The rain was pouring down, and the thunder was roaring.
As the rain violently crashed down, Janice Wood had just managed to stand up when she saw a series of actions from Flossie Wright. Seeing the two female soldiers being thrown down by her, she was shocked. Blinking, she watched as Flossie Wright approached, rain hitting her in the eyes, the icy coldness causing the oncoming figure to blur.
"Be careful——"
Suddenly, seeing the female soldier rushing towards Flossie Wright, Janice Wood’s heart leaped and she exclaimed without thinking.
"Ahh——"
Caught unprepared, Flossie Wright subtly turned her body. Before the soldier could get close, she was on the receiving end of a powerful kick to the stomach. The soldier’s mud-covered face distorted in pain, a chilling scream escaping her mouth. However, it was in the moment she doubled over in pain that Flossie Wright took the opportunity to get close, slamming her elbow into the woman’s chin. Her actions were ruthless and swift, executed without hesitation.
Yet, the soldier who had taken two hits did not have a chance to fight back as she felt something choking her throat. The suffocating force caused her to feel dizzy. By the time she finally focused her gaze on Flossie Wright’s cold face, she realized it was her who was choking her neck.
The soldier took a deep breath, her face turning red. She tried to squeeze a word out, but she had lost her voice. She could only breathe heavily, her eyes wide with panic.
It wasn’t until she felt nauseated and on the verge of collapse that the constant rush of fresh air revived her, reminding her that life was gradually returning to her.
Gradually, her vision cleared and she saw Flossie Wright walk away calmly, extending her hand to a dumbstruck Janice Wood sitting on the ground.
"Thank, thank you."
Overwhelmed by a sense of unspeakable surprise, Janice Wood instinctively grabbed the extended hand. It wasn’t until Flossie Wright helped her up that she realized, expressing her panic-stricken thanks, her heart full of gratitude.
She knew very well that Flossie Wright had acted to help her.
And, seeing this scene, the new soldiers were left in absolute silence, staring with their mouths agape. They did not fully comprehend why a kitchen staff member would be so bold and powerful, not only making a female soldier entirely defenceless, but also blatantly disregarding the sharp gaze of the instructor, as if all eyes on her were irrelevant.
No one else could possibly have such courage!
Becca Reyes and other members of the cooking class stopped ladling the soup. They had not been paying attention to Flossie Wright’s situation before, but they could guess from her actions what had happened, which made them anxious.
Acting righteously is of course a good thing, but she was brawling under the public gaze, they knew all too well what kind of punishment she would face.
The group exchanged glances, a mutual understanding forming amongst them. The members of this class had reached some sort of tacit agreement.
The cooking class has always had little to do with combat skill. In many people’s minds, it’s always been about cooking and cleaning, their clothes smelling like smoke and grease, a point the older members of the cooking class greatly resented. Now, seeing Flossie Wright’s actions, rather than worrying about the punishment she would face, they were more— exhilarated!
Beating up these arrogant new soldiers, in their eyes as members of the cooking class, was ridiculously satisfying!
"Kitchen worker, could you kindly explain why you assaulted my soldiers?"
The stern-faced instructor walked over, his tone surprisingly calm and composed, but his heart was already filled with burning rage.
