But, if he is part of the Navy, I’m guessing it can only be the Cameron Bailey brigade.
Would a regular Naval force bring up such a soldier?
The move Flossie Wright just displayed appears simple, but in reality, it isn’t something that can be learnt overnight.
Sipping leisurely on her red wine, Flossie showed no interest in any of the scrumptious dishes. Patrick Morrison had not spoken to Flossie since their incident, but on the other hand, Kate Rivera seemed to be "taking care" of her, engaging her in unnecessary chit-chats every now and then. She was practically recording their college days as a memoir.
"We’re going to karaoke later, would you like to come?"
The dinner party was about to end and Kate Rivera, who hadn’t been able to fish out any useful information, was getting somewhat desperate. The smile she had maintained throughout turned rather grim. Once again, she extended an invitation to Flossie.
Flossie’s response was succinct and left no room for negotiation.
Sensing the curious gazes around her, Kate Rivera gently looked at Flossie and teased, "So you’re really going to turn me down like that?"
Giving her a casual glance, Flossie replied calmly, "I have a friend coming to pick me up."
"The friend you’ve arranged to meet?"
It seemed as if Kate had thought of something and she continued her questioning.
In reality, Flossie had mentioned that a friend would come but since no one arrived, Kate didn’t think much of it. She simply assumed Flossie was using this as an excuse to avoid joining them.
However, Flossie, in the face of her probing, calmly nodded. "Mm-hmm."
With curiosity gleaming in her eyes, Kate feigned thoughtfulness and asked, "Is it your fiance, Rowdy Brightwill?"
Kate’s voice was just loud enough, nobody would have paid attention if it was another name. But the mention of "Rowdy Brightwill" made people understandably alert. They subtly shifted their attention, but unlike before, they didn’t terminate the conversation. After all, everyone was quite curious about Flossie’s reply.
At school, every person knowing Flossie was familiar with the name "Rowdy Brightwill". Despite not having met young master Brightwill personally, his reputation was well-known. Every time Flossie made a public appearance, she would bring up "Rowdy Brightwill" and avidly boast that he was her fiance. She praised him to the skies, causing many people to itch with curiosity. They were eager to see who this legendary character was that made a woman like Flossie head over heels for him.
They had only heard that Rowdy was in a military academy, and graduated two years earlier than them. Apparently, he directly joined the military after graduation. As Rowdy Brightwill never visited Flossie at school, no one had the opportunity to see his face.
Moreover, Flossie kept his photos out of sight, apprehending that someone might fall head over heels for her fiance. They didn’t even get a chance to have a peek at what he looked like.
Earlier today, they heard from others that the Brightwill Family and the Wright Family had initiated a marriage arrangement. They couldn’t wait to share this gossip at their class reunion. Many of them were in fact secretly rejoicing.
Since Flossie wasn’t really close to any of them, everyone just liked to watch the drama unfold. In the end, it had nothing to do with them and could serve as an entertaining anecdote. So why not?
