The island battlefield was not large, but the trees were lush. Because it was located in a remote part of the ocean, there were seldom any signs of life, only large piles of marine debris that had washed ashore.
Four teams moved through the jungle, their figures agile and swift. The sound of their movements mingled with the howling wind, making it difficult to discern anything unusual.
Flossie Wright and Jessie Grain lagged behind, keeping a certain distance from the other teams.
They were still some distance away from the target when Flossie Wright suddenly stopped.
"What’s up?"
Having advanced two steps ahead, Jessie Grain noticed that Flossie Wright hadn’t followed and turned back to look, asking in a low voice.
After flexing her wrist, Flossie Wright slowly took two steps forward, standing face to face with Jessie Grain. With a casual expression, she lazily said, "Let’s split up."
Jessie Grain felt she didn’t quite understand her meaning.
If both of them were snipers, then splitting up would be natural, but now they were a sniper team and needed to act together.
"The Captain’s plan won’t work," Flossie Wright, standing before her with a cool expression but unwavering determination, said, "We need two snipers."
Jessie Grain was slightly startled.
Staring at the calm and composed yet confidently determined Flossie Wright in front of her, Jessie Grain’s brow twitched with an indescribable sense of strangeness.
Asserting so calmly and surely that "the Captain’s plan won’t work" without having rebutted Ella Pemberton in advance, and instead making a unilateral decision to act on her own—she might have even bypassed reporting back afterwards.
She didn’t understand what Flossie Wright was thinking, but she had a feeling this was a style of behavior consistent with Flossie Wright.

After a moment’s thought, Jessie Grain asked, "Not going to tell the Captain upfront?"
"No," Flossie Wright replied, cutting her off.
"Why?" Jessie Grain was surprised.
With a slight frown, Flossie Wright’s expression grew more serious, "She’s considering too much."
"We must follow orders," Jessie Grain said with equal seriousness.
"No one will know," Flossie Wright replied lightly.
"What if we’re discovered?" Jessie Grain asked again.
"Just complete the mission," Flossie Wright was uncompromising.
For Flossie Wright, there were not so many rules to follow. The mission just needed to be completed, no matter how it was done. Normally, both of them could operate independently, but Ella Pemberton had reduced an otherwise helpful sniper out of concern for their safety.
This was why Flossie Wright said Pemberton was overthinking it.
Originally, Flossie Wright wanted to follow her order and complete the mission as a two-person team, but upon arriving at the island, she realized something was amiss.
She didn’t know how many pirates had come to the island; estimates suggested maybe around a dozen.
Based on the traces around the trees, Flossie Wright conservatively estimated that there definitely were no fewer than fifteen.
Possibly even more.
There might even be an ambush.
Jessie Grain could replace her, so the mission that was supposed to fall on her could be transferred to Jessie Grain as well.
After staring at her for a moment, Jessie Grain agreed.
In the mission, she decided to prioritize the bigger picture without being petty, but that didn’t mean she lacked the ability.
Giving her an OK gesture, Flossie Wright halted her advance and slipped off in another direction.
Jessie Grain was slightly surprised.
That wasn’t the direction of the target!
Could it be—
