Inside the tent.
As soon as Flossie Wright walked in with the dishes, Perry Reed’s gaze swept over the food one by one. For some reason, a strange chill ran down his spine.
They look quite decent.
But the Flossie Wright in his memory was completely inept in the kitchen.
Placing the dishes on the table, Flossie Wright raised an eyebrow at Perry Reed.
Perry Reed scrutinized Flossie Wright for a few moments, then hesitated before sitting across from her, giving her some face.
Flossie Wright set down the rice bowl and chopsticks and also sat down.
But she didn’t hurry to eat.
Rubbing her chin with her fingers, Flossie Wright squinted slightly, her gaze drifting around Perry Reed as if hinting at something.
Feeling somewhat unnerved by her staring, Perry Reed had no choice but to concede, picking up his chopsticks in front of Flossie Wright.
Flossie Wright watched him with satisfaction.
Grinding his teeth, Perry Reed picked up a green bean.
The cutting was excellent, the long strands almost identical in size and length. Yet, Perry Reed could clearly see that among the beans he picked up, some were overcooked and some were not even done.
"Don’t like it?"
Noting Perry Reed’s hesitation, Flossie Wright asked, word by word, in a calm voice without emotion.
Perry Reed raised an eyebrow.
After pausing, Perry Reed asked, "Have you tried it yourself?"
"No need," Flossie Wright said offhandedly.
No need to taste to know it’s horrible.
What the team leader taught had mostly slipped her mind.
Others get better with practice, but Flossie Wright, uninterested, only grows more dreadful at it.
After hearing Flossie Wright’s honest answer, Perry Reed stopped dawdling, his brow twitching slightly as he put the green bean into his mouth.
A hard-to-describe flavor instantly spread across his taste buds.
Perry Reed forcefully maintained a calm expression, and under Flossie Wright’s watchful gaze, he swallowed it bit by bit.
"How is it?" Flossie Wright asked with keen interest.
"Want to try it?"
Perry Reed shot her a cold look.
Never met a woman whose knife skills were that good, could make the dish look decent, but taste like poison.
Flossie Wright rubbed her nose, "I’ll pass, I’m going to get a couple of steamed buns."
"What about mine?" Perry Reed glared at her.
Standing up, Flossie Wright casually raised a brow, "Two dishes and a soup, not to your liking?"
A ruthless gleam flashed in Perry Reed’s eyes.
Flossie Wright swaggered out.
Though, she said Perry Reed should eat the two dishes and the soup, Flossie Wright couldn’t be that heartless, so she also picked up a portion of steamed buns for Perry Reed.
As for those few unappealing dishes...
The two surprisingly didn’t waste any.
At Flossie Wright’s instigation, Perry Reed, with a sulking face, was driven by her to the kitchen, re-frying those dishes. Though they still tasted off, they weren’t as unbearable as poison, and the two surprisingly ate all of it with the steamed buns.
Perry Reed felt that the greatest danger of being with Flossie Wright wasn’t wielding knives or guns on the battlefield, but eating the meals she cooked in a relatively peaceful setting.
One careless move and she’d wear him out half to death.
The two fussed over lunch, and by the time they finished eating, it was already 2 PM.
Flossie Wright went back to take a nap.
More tiring than a battle, Flossie Wright actually slept until 6 PM before crawling out of bed.
