It wasn’t until Nigel Ferguson was busy helping her carry the vegetables, Flossie Wright took a stroll around the nearby area and grasped the gist of the matters.
Apparently, these past few days, Yvonne Watson had been refusing any help from Nigel Ferguson at the Vegetable Market. Her attitude was extremely disdainful, impolite, and unfriendly so much that many vegetable vendors were offended. So, when she came to shop for herself, all the vendors calculated every penny without giving her any discounts, their attitudes towards her were unusually tough. Initially, Yvonne Watson scoffed. However, after encountering similar attitudes from several vendors, she was left with no choice but to bow her head in submission. She silently paid for her purchase and left the market humiliated.
With the stark contrast provided by Yvonne Watson, people began missing the cordial Flossie Wright. Although Flossie assigned all tasks to Nigel Ferguson, she was considerate. During her occasional interactions with the vendors, she remembered their names and identities. Her regarding individuals attitude could not be matched by any amount of Yvonne Watsons.
Therefore, these vendors were willing to give so many freebies to Flossie Wright once they see her again.
You can’t blame them. Nowadays, not many people respect them. Although Flossie’s demeanor was cold and her words were few, she never looked down on them. She genuinely considered them as equals, and it wasn’t a facade.
Following their usual routine, once she had obtained the information she needed, Flossie started jogging along the nearby streets. By the time she returned after finishing a few laps, Nigel Ferguson had all the vegetables ready and neatly arranged on the trolley ready for checkout, which even included a lot of food products and snacks at no extra cost.
"Well, have we hit the jackpot?"
Glancing at the pile of snacks stacked in the shopping trolley’s corner, Flossie playfully raised an eyebrow towards Nigel Ferguson, with an obvious note of banter.
It wasn’t Nigel Ferguson’s first time "giving" things; however, usually, it would be food items. It was rare to see so many snacks.
There were all kinds of snacks, it seemed like these were the popular ones recently.....
Of course, Flossie wasn’t very fond of them, having managed to avoid all stereotypical girl’s likes since her childhood.
"A friend said that you guys in the Forces have a hard time, and don’t have many snacks to eat, so I asked him to buy some that girls like."
Nigel Ferguson explained, his smile somewhat shy.
Her gaze lingered on him for a few seconds, and then Flossie asked suspiciously, "Are these for Yvonne Watson?"
"No, no," Hearing this name, Nigel Ferguson immediately shook his head, there was a clear fluster in his tone, and he hastily explained, "these are all genuinely for you. If I wanted to give them to her, I would have done so long ago."
Essence of contemplation flashed in Flossie’s eyes as she slightly narrowed them.
"Thank you."
After a while, Flossie casually expressed her gratitude. Her demeanor was remarkably composed, and it seemed as if she were simply accepting a pile of carefully selected snacks. She then suavely pushed the cart and left.
Nigel Ferguson, who was standing at the entrance of the Vegetable Market, remained stationary, his gaze fixated on her retreating figure until it disappeared around a corner, only then did he finally withdraw his gaze.
"Heh, Bro Nigel, aren’t you going to tell Sister Flossie directly?"
The vendor by his side was a young girl who’d just come of age and was helping her family out. She was the one who advised Nigel Ferguson to buy the snacks.
"Tell her what?"
Nigel Ferguson discomfortingly turned his head and asked somewhat shyly. However, his intention of avoidance was pretty clear.
"Tell her you like..."
The girl was about to clarify her statement when Nigel Ferguson interjected begrudgingly, "Why gossip when not shopping?"
Being unexpectedly snapped at, the girl blinked in surprise and lowered her head, slightly hurt.
Last time Nigel was openly pursuing Yvonne Watson and shunned any advice to the contrary, why is it when he shifts his attention to Sister Flossie, he becomes so diffident?
Well, Sister Flossie’s aura is indeed overwhelming. No matter how strong Nigel may seem, he doesn’t stand out when he’s in front of Sister Flossie.
When Flossie casually pushed the cart, it was almost the end of the morning exercises. With the help of two new culinary soldiers, the fresh vegetables were quickly moved to the kitchen.
When the two helpers were curious about the large bag of snacks, Flossie simply took them to the kitchen, asking the squad leader to distribute the snacks during his upcoming break.
She may not like them, but she also couldn’t let them go to waste.
"Hmm." The squad leader, Lin, wasn’t too mindful of the pile of snacks and casually acknowledged, following which he said, "Don’t just stand there, come help chop the vegetables."
Squad leader Lin’s orders were always non-negotiable. Flossie, who was already used to these requests, was unfazed and got ready to chop the vegetables.
But before she could even reach the chopping board, there was suddenly an influx of three more people in the kitchen, marching straight towards her.
She instinctively turned around and immediately spotted Becca Reyes and two other familiar figures.
It wasn’t yet time for the morning exercises to end. They should be training at this time.
Just as the doubts began creeping into her mind, Becca Reyes stormed up to her, yelling with full force, "Flossie Wright, if you dare hold us back, you’re toast!".
