"Do you have any game coins?"
Pulling the boy towards her, Flossie Wright glanced at the many disappointed people around, and unexpectedly asked the boy.
The child turned his head to look at her for a few moments, then without hesitation, quickly handed over all of his game coins, "Ten."
After a pause, Flossie asked again, "How many do you want to earn?"
"A thousand."
His answer was very definite, and there was not a hint of hesitation on his face.
With a subtle glint in her eyes, Flossie decisively turned and started to walk away.
"Where are you going?"
The boy grabbed her hand tighter, his eyes clouded with worry.
Looking back at him, Flossie openly stated: "Going to exchange for you."
To turn ten coins into a thousand, not to mention the time and energy it would consume, even whether she could achieve it was questionable. Hence, she would rather pay out of her own pocket to exchange a thousand for him rather than stay here any longer.
However, the young boy seemed determined to challenge her. He clung tightly to Flossie’s hand, his eyes filled with stubbornness and persistence, clearly intending to earn coins by playing the games rather than by any other means.
As they stood there staring at each other, the atmosphere turned somewhat tense.
Eventually, Flossie’s brow furrowed slightly and she compromised, "Only half an hour of play."
With a firm nod, a smile lit up the boy’s face, making him look exceptionally charming.
Going in with only ten game coins was a daunting challenge for anyone, especially for a novice like Flossie who had hardly ever played such games. However, since she had already come this far, she certainly wouldn’t just leave without doing anything. No matter how things went, she could always go and get more game coins after the half-hour was up.
The game was straightforward once started. Flossie claimed a spot and began to play after only watching for a minute, with the boy tightly following her every movement. Despite his seemingly calm and nonchalant demeanor, anyone observing closely could see the hint of nervousness in his eyes.
Driven by the target of a thousand coins, or perhaps just a part of her character, Flossie eschewed the smaller cannon in favor of a five-coin one right from the start. With just two attempts, she missed the first one, but she cleaved through the game with the last coin, and after several minutes, she was hitting every shot, each one yielding several times the initial bet.
This shocking performance nearly stupefied the nearby players. Initially, none of them paid any heed to this newcomer, but within ten minutes, almost all eyes were drawn to her, and the crowd around her kept growing. Originally just a small table, it soon gathered dozens of spectators.
Everyone was craning their necks to join in the excitement, watching the mysterious master maneuver her way effortlessly towards a steadily rising score, their eyes almost glowing red with envy.
What an impressive knack for making money!
Gaming can be addictive, and the kids were there mainly to play. However, the adults were primarily here for the money, much like people addicted to a drug, desperate to quit but unable to do so. They watched Flossie’s tactics and expertise, literally itching to try out her techniques as if the money she was earning was their own.
Within less than twenty minutes, Flossie casually accumulated the thousand game coins she needed.
