Many people were standing around, none of whom had tried to intervene.
Clearly, the veteran soldiers here harbored dissatisfaction towards Flossie Wright.
Becca Reyes, who stood next to Belinda Nichols, unconsciously took a step back.
She couldn’t help but to hold her forehead.
It wasn’t that she was cowardly, nor was she afraid of the veterans; it was purely that Flossie’s attitude really was courting a beating. She herself wanted to give Flossie a few punches, to say nothing of those veterans whose anger was already kindled.
She had previously heard the veterans discussing how Flossie had become more arrogant and domineering ever since she’d set up the "ring."
Having listened in on a few conversations, Becca Reyes gained a general understanding of Flossie’s reprehensible behavior.
After all, when it came to infuriating others, it took Flossie no more than a word or two.
Becca Reyes didn’t know what Flossie was trying to do, but she could be sure of one thing—aside from seeking death, there must be another purpose.
"Ten bucks,"
Flossie casually said as she tossed the remaining cards in her hand, her tone surprisingly flat without any intonation.

The stunt made the furious veteran, who was checking the cards, pause in bafflement.
If Flossie were truly cheating, she definitely wouldn’t appear so calm.
It could also be a cover-up.
"Ten bucks, is it?" Soon enough, someone behind her abruptly stepped forward, slamming a ten-dollar bill on the stone table with confidence, saying, "I’ll pay you!"
Flossie merely shrugged.
She naturally took the ten bucks, then directly handed it to Sandy Cruz who was to her right.
"That’s what I owe you."
Flossie narrowed her eyes.
Regarding her with a look, Sandy Cruz didn’t hesitate, reaching out and taking the ten-dollar bill.
It was the money Flossie had owed her from the previous night.
Since Flossie was repaying it, he was certainly going to accept it.
Even though, due to Flossie, he had already lost several times that amount today.
"Did you find anything?"
"I’ll join too."
"Seems there are no extra cards."
"Really, I’m so furious I could die. I really want to search her."
"Indeed, I can’t swallow this grievance."
As the murmurs grew, many of the veteran soldiers gathered around, all wearing stern expressions to convey their discontent with Flossie.
During the new recruits’ selection, they had heard of Flossie Wright’s reputation and had some inkling of her personality, but as newly selected soldiers, shouldn’t they hold back a bit?! Where were the limits to this audacity!
Ahhh, it’s maddening!
"Did you find out?"
After waiting for them to search twice, Flossie rubbed her forehead and asked unconcernedly.
The female soldier who had offered the money slammed the deck of cards onto the table in frustration.
"Any swapped cards?"
Crossing her legs, Flossie raised her brows, her question tinged with a hint of provocation.
The female soldier replied stiffly.
"Then," pausing slightly, Flossie stood up, collected the money in front of her, and faced Sandy Cruz, "let’s go, I’ll treat you to a meal."
Sandy Cruz gave her a sidelong glance.
"You’re not playing anymore?"
The female soldier was taken aback, asking Flossie with some surprise.
They had already formed a line behind them, hoping to strike at Flossie hard and avenge their frustration. How could they allow Flossie to leave just like that?
"You still want to play?" Flossie countered.
"..." The female soldier faltered then nodded stiffly, "Yeah."
"The cards are already yours; play on your own,"
Flossie said, looking at them and spreading her hands.
The female soldier was choked up by her response.
"We’ll talk some other time."
Finishing, Flossie waved her hand and turned to leave.
"Flossie Wright!"
Unexpectedly, somebody called out from behind.
Flossie paused her steps, glancing back at the person who had called her.
"When will you come again?" The person asked with a frown, his voice deep.
"Not coming back,"
Flossie replied with a light smile.
With a slight lift of her eyes, Flossie beckoned to Becca Reyes and Belinda Nichols, signaling for them to join her in leaving.
Sandy Cruz stood up, his hands in his pockets, leisurely lifting his long legs and following Flossie and the others as they left.
Meanwhile—
Standing at a distance, Jessie Grain, who had witnessed Flossie’s actions, was frowning in solemn contemplation.
Playing Dou Di Zhu?
Having shared a Dormitory with Flossie for three months, Jessie Grain didn’t have a complete understanding of Flossie, but she at least knew her ways of handling things.
Flossie wasn’t the type to provoke others unprovoked.
After much thought, the only thing she could come up with was the mission assigned to them by Captain Peng yesterday.
Was it to get to know each of them through playing Dou Di Zhu?
She remembered that, in the previous rounds, Flossie had always asked them to reveal their names in advance, likely memorizing their faces and names.
But was it worth the trouble?
Doubt flickered through Jessie Grain’s mind.
It was too complicated, and as a new soldier, provoking the ire of so many veterans obviously didn’t pay off.
There had to be some other reason.
So, what was it?
Surrounded by various conversations, the topics mainly revolved around Flossie—there were curses, displeasure, comfort, amusement, curiosity...
That’s right!
An idea suddenly struck her.
Flossie surely wasn’t just trying to remember their names; otherwise, she could have taken plenty of opportunities last night to do so, and with her social skills, she could have easily gotten to know a few of the girls, subsequently learning about the others through them, all without any problem.
Therefore, forcing those people into irritation by playing the provocateur, observing their various reactions and attitudes...
She was aiming to understand their personalities!
That was the hidden mission from Captain Peng.
In three days, how could it be possible just to remember names?
With around sixty people, they could remember them all in two hours, and if they were a bit clever, they could even figure out their identities without meeting them.
Had Flossie guessed this hidden mission right from the start?
Shock inevitably settled in Jessie Grain’s heart.
