She stood at the door. She could not see Flossie Wright’s expression from that recent incident, but she could determine one thing from the sequence of events.
Flossie Wright was genuinely angry.
Was she upset because she had watched the training? Was it because Janice Wood was isolated because of her? Or was she irked that Neal Thompson was overstepping his boundaries?
Becca Reyes was unsure of the real reason.
But this version of Flossie Wright was completely different from anyone Becca had ever met. Just seeing her from a distance made her shiver uncontrollably.
The overwhelming power and brutality could not have come from an ordinary person. In her memory, this was entirely inconsistent with the soft-spoken but determined Flossie Wright.
Cruel, heartless, dangerous—all of these traits were too wicked.
Yet, she also believed that if Neal Thompson refused to relent, Flossie Wright would keep choking him until he died.
Slowly walking forward, Becca Reyes stood by Flossie Wright’s bed, only to see the back of her as she turned over. She gently started, "Flossie..."
"Call me when it’s time to work."
Her indifferent voice cut off Becca’s words, the tone devoid of all the previous coldness—languid and laid back as usual.
Becca Reyes opened her mouth, only to find she could not form a single sentence.
She was not that timid.
Dismissing the thought with a wave of her hand, Becca Reyes stretched lazily and sauntered out of the door.
It was getting close to lunchtime. It was high time she prepared the animals’ food!
However, the moment she stepped outside, Flossie Wright, who had been lying down with her eyes closed, suddenly opened them.
In her dark eyes that resembled the stars in a night sky, a hint of confusion flashed briefly before fading away, leaving only an air of calm.
True, she cared about what had happened to Janice Wood; she was also annoyed by Neal Thompson’s provocation.
However, none of these were the reasons she was angry.
Maybe it was more accurate to say she felt more agitated than angry.
An uncontrollable agitation.
She believed that Glenn Hutchinson did not merely want to motivate them with the public training. There must have been a deeper meaning behind it.
And that damned scoundrel seemed to have achieved his goal.
Yvonne Watson came back in the afternoon. After learning of Neal Thompson’s intention to blame Flossie Wright, she immediately complained to him.
After all, she and Neal Thompson had the best relationship in the cooking class.
Unexpectedly, Neal Thompson did not take her words to heart. In fact, he blamed her for being inept at her tasks. He was so aloof that it shocked Yvonne Watson into silence.
In a few hours, Flossie Wright had managed to gather her thoughts. But when she walked around the dormitory that night, she found not only Yvonne Watson avoiding her out of fear, but also Neal Thompson acting similarly, avoiding even eye contact with her.
She touched her nose in innocence, but didn’t take this matter too seriously.
If Becca Reyes were to learn about her innocence, she would definitely jump up, point at her nose and curse, "You damn near choked them to death! The fact that they didn’t report you is already quite remarkable, now you’re just scared and what else are you planning?!"
As days went by, Captain Woods, in order to give Flossie Wright and Becca Reyes more preparation time, specially arranged the assessment after a week. During this week, every day from two-thirty in the morning to four-thirty, Glenn Hutchinson led the training, mastering all technical things. The rest of the spare time they simply focused on physical endurance training, seizing every smallest gap, and aiming for maximum use.
However, Flossie Wright had another tedious task besides training and food preparation—
Delivering breakfast and late-night snacks to Glenn Hutchinson.
If Glenn Hutchinson were to stay in the training ground and the office honestly, Flossie Wright would save some trouble by just making one trip. But Glenn Hutchinson often broke the rules; Flossie Wright once had to climb over two mountains to deliver his breakfast, and once she had to ask around at four places and spent half an hour before she finally handed over the late-night snack to him.
More importantly, if she was late, he would become very picky, either feeling that the food was cold or that the taste wasn’t as good as it should be. In the end, he would usually end up tossing it to her to eat instead.
In such guerrilla warfare, Flossie Wright just wanted to choke this bastard to death, simple and trouble-free.
"They are still training on the hillside today, you should go over earlier."
Handing the late-night snack that Flossie Wright had prepared to her, Captain Woods urged her with concern. He was always thinking of his lifesaver, and barely looked at Flossie Wright who was purely running errands for him.
Flossie Wright, already accustomed to this, took the late-night snack without comment and dutifully headed towards the hillside where they often trained.
The temperature had recently fluctuated abruptly, and this barren forest was already very cold. The cold wind blew through the thin training uniform onto her skin, causing her to feel somewhat chilled.
She exhaled a breath of cold air and strode swiftly on the mountain road with a flashlight in her hand. Amidst the nocturnal travel, she was like a spirit with a unique light.
Flossie Wright, who had been walking for about twenty minutes and had just arrived at the hillside, suddenly stopped. She scanned the surroundings and then walked over to a pile of weeds nearby.
"Come out."
Kicking the adjacent shrub, Flossie Wright lazily spoke, urging the soldier hiding in the pile of weeds.
Willie Ash emerged angrily from the ground. Seeing Flossie Wright, he was taken aback, "Damn, why is it you again?!"
These days, Glenn Hutchinson had been training them in the art of concealment. He, himself, would check their hiding spots with his keen eyes, not sparing anyone despite the dead of night and without night vision goggles. Every soldier found would be penalized with ten ammunition. When approaching this hour, they were all in fear.
However, Willie Ash was quite confident last time with his almost perfect hiding. Unexpectedly, he ran into Flossie Wright, the delivery girl, who found him in less than a minute to ask for directions, which instantly earned him ten bullets from Glenn Hutchinson against his four limbs. Willie Ash was so angry that he wanted to directly fight Flossie Wright.
Unexpectedly...
Today he was bumped into by this woman again!
Could he be unluckier? Could he be more wronged?!
"Delivering late-night snacks." Flossie Wright showed the late-night snack in her hand, paused, then added unkindly, "If I can find you, do you think he wouldn’t be able to?"
Willie Ash’s eyes flared with rage and he was agitated enough to curse.
"I’d advise you not to go looking for him." Willie Ash brushed the debris off his body, detached himself completely from the pile of weeds, and then observed the surroundings, "The Captain seems to be heartbroken, his mood isn’t good."
Flossie Wright raised her eyebrows in slight surprise.
