The stark contrast from then to now was truly refreshing for her.
But while she’s enjoying herself, Neal Thompson almost exploded with rage!
She had just managed to escape here only to see the few people she shooed away last night standing unscathed before her, whereas she, much to her chagrin, was in a pitiful state. This gap was enough to make her want to wipe this frustrating memory from her mind.
"Why is the deputy squad leader here?"
A voice full of confusion, gentle and slow, with a hint of a warm aura mixed in.
The person speaking was none other than Calvin Ramos, usually not one to stir up trouble.
For an inexplicable reason, Stuart Weston, who was standing nearby, raised his eyebrows in a rather odd manner, looking at Calvin Ramos as if he were hearing an Arabian Nights tale.
It’s truly rare that Calvin Ramos would stir the pot too...
"You guys..."
Neal Thompson looked at them suspiciously. She can’t believe they truly did not return all night. Then she noticed the breakfast they were holding, clearly, the sniper rifle in Flossie Wright’s hands was the most striking.
"I’ve come looking for you," her face slightly changed, Neal quickly regained her composure, blinked weirdly, cleared her throat and asked, "Where did you get those things?"
"From the blue team."
Flossie Wright nonchalantly replied while eating her chocolate in front of her, completely disregarding the subtext of her question.
Stuart Weston blinked, chuckling, "You came here empty-handed, didn’t bring anything to eat? Or did you encounter an enemy raid on the way to find us in the middle of the night, fought fiercely to escape, but lost your things?"
Neal Thompson’s face suddenly became stiff.
In reality, she was quite fortunate. During the series of explosions last night, she was near the edge of the campsite, safe from the shelling and did not encounter any enemy. She got hurt not because of an attack but from twisting her ankle when she stumbled during her escape.
"Nonsense," Becca Reyes casually hit Stuart Weston’s chest with the back of her hand, then looked at Neal Thompson, seemingly trying to mean well, "Deputy squad leader, it’s good that you’re here. We didn’t find much food on the way. Can you teach us how to find some?"
"With that effort," Flossie Wright added nonchalantly after a pause, "We might as well rob."
Neal Thompson blinked in shock, finally understanding.
It turned out that all of them were mocking her!

"You don’t need to look for food anymore," Neal Thompson’s face slightly cooled, but her eyes were fixated on the biscuits they held, "The campsite has been occupied by the blue team, pretty much everyone who can escape has escaped."
"This," Stuart Weston hesitated, giving Neal Thompson a wary look before tentatively asking, "Being a deserter isn’t a good thing, right?"
Then, Neal Thompson’s face turned completely black.
Feigning innocence, isn’t he just mocking that she’s a "deserter"?!
"Have you guys had enough?!" Neal Thompson was boiling with rage, she glared at them with an imposing attitude, her voice raising angrily as she roared, "Is it fun to mock me? Is it interesting to see me in such an embarrassing state? You just look down on me because I’m just a cook, not as good as you prospective combat forces, right? But don’t get too cocky, you haven’t yet made it into the Marine Corps, what’s so great about you?!"
She roared out all her complaints and resentments in a spurt. Neal Thompson glared at them wide-eyed, her chest heaved with anger. The resentment burst from her eyes seemed ready to engulf anyone in an instant.
