Gently placing her spoon down, Jocelyn Carrington’s face showed a hint of resentment. Lowering her head slightly, she spoke in a low voice, "I admit defeat."
Without a doubt, she suspected that Flossie Wright had swapped their bowls of soup after tasting the first spoonful. However, Flossie had only touched her soup bowl once, all under her watchful gaze, making it impossible for anything to have happened. Therefore, even though she had strong suspicions about Flossie, she herself could not find a reason to place the blame on her.
"Do you remember the promise you made to me?" the head of the cooking class asked, turning her gaze to Jocelyn Carrington.
Biting her teeth, Jocelyn stood straight and replied, "Fifty laps!"
The real reason she was able to convince the head of the cooking class to let her compete with Flossie wasn’t only because of the noble reasons she gave. More importantly, she made a promise that if she lost, she would willingly run fifty laps as a punishment.
And now, it was her time to fulfil the promise.
Watching Jocelyn Carrington run off with a disgruntled face, Flossie’s eyes flashed briefly before she shrugged helplessly.
She really had no intention of making Jocelyn her enemy. However, since Jocelyn deliberately sought her out with hostility, Flossie didn’t want to appear weak. Though her methods were not fair, she never intended to compete with Jocelyn in cooking. She didn’t care about the results, and wanted to teach Jocelyn a lesson.
Thus, that night, after Jocelyn ran fifty laps, she spent most of the night in the restroom, reportedly, because she had a bad stomach.
Sea breeze rustled and the sun beat down fiercely.
Female soldiers stood barefoot on the beach, hands behind their backs. They wore short sleeves, their hats and shoes placed at their feet. The burning sunshine was pouring directly onto them. The scorching temperature made their skin feel as if it were on fire. Constant sweating seeped through and soaked their clothes.
They were new soldiers, but being close to the sea meant they couldn’t avoid sea training. Anti-sunburn training had just recently started. Every half hour after the session, their exposed skin was so burnt it felt like peeling off.
One after another, the female soldiers fell down due to the extreme sun exposure, and then Abram Phillips had them dragged away. Those who couldn’t endure it would face the punishment of running laps in the evening.
"One more minute!"
Glancing at the timer, Abram Phillips said sternly, his gaze sweeping across the remaining group of female soldiers. When his gaze landed on Flossie, who stood as steadfast as a pine tree without any signs of wavering, his eyes paused for a moment, showing a hint of surprise and astonishment.
Flossie’s recent changes were getting more and more significant. In the past, she could barely keep up with the training and they had hardly any hopes for her.
But now, not only could she keep up, she managed to endure the first time the gruelling sun exposure training. This was not just about physical strength, but also about a great deal of endurance.
"Stand at attention, at ease!" Until the last second showed up on the timer, Abram Phillips finally called the signal symbolizing the liberation for all female soldiers.
At once, all the female soldiers began to move their bodies. While breathing a sigh of relief, they eagerly awaited their scarce rest time.
Checking the time, Abram Phillips said, "Rest for ten minutes, then get ready to go into the sea!"
Hearing this, almost all the female soldiers put their hands in the air and cheered. Only Flossie stood among the crowd, her face changing colors, and a glint of darkness lurked in her eyes.
"Flossie, why do you look so upset?" Moving around next to her, Janice Wood noticed Flossie’s odd behavior. After staring for a few seconds, she suddenly realized something, "You can’t... swim, can you?"
Hearing Janice’s words, Flossie’s eyebrows moved slightly, but she didn’t refute.
Immediately, Janice’s eyes opened wide in surprise.
At the same time—

A helicopter flew over from the horizon.
In the helicopter, two powerful soldiers looked at each other but remained silent. Their eyes subtly glided towards the man sitting next to them, expressing a hint of fear.
Not until the pilot asked if they needed to stop did Glenn Hutchinson, who had been closing his eyes to rest, suddenly open his eyes. A sharp gaze swept over, causing the two soldiers’ hearts to skip a beat.
