Although the sky had darkened, impairing visibility, Cassie Ferguson and Bonnie Reyes had lit a bonfire at the Sanctuary, making it easy for Devina Millet to find a source of fire in the night.
She could also clearly see what was hanging over the bonfire.
Flossie Wright continued to eat her fish without any desire to engage in conversation.
Devina Millet pursed her lips and then planted the bamboo stick with the fish on it into the ground before tearing a leg off the wild rabbit.
"I’m going to take a walk."
Standing up, Devina Millet said to Flossie Wright.
"Whatever."
Flossie spoke indifferently.
So, Devina Millet bit into a rather tough rabbit leg, pretending it was delicious as she walked towards where Cassie and Bonnie were.
She was obviously trying to show off.
Flossie was uninterested, continuing to eat her fish in a leisurely fashion.
The taste—
Was really not that great.
After a while.
Devina Millet came back triumphantly, the rabbit leg in her hand gnawed down to the bone, deliberately flaunting it in front of Flossie.
However, from beginning to end, Flossie paid her no attention.
Devina had no choice but to awkwardly sit back down.
After eating the rather uninspiring dinner, as the night grew deeper, the two discussed the timing and order of their watch shifts.
Of course, the so-called "discussion" was really just decided by Flossie in a few words.
"I’ll take the first half of the night, you take the second."
"We’ll switch at two."
She easily set the schedule.
Devina’s thoughts were all on Cassie and Bonnie, and she didn’t bother to argue over a few words, happily agreeing.
Then, she climbed up into the "Branch Sanctuary" and settled in to sleep.
The next day.
It was just past five in the morning.
Flossie was woken by the sound of stones being thrown.
With a slight frown, Flossie opened her eyes and in the darkness, her gaze shifted to the right, on the "tree bark."
Tiny stones were hitting against the bark.
Rubbing her forehead, Flossie sat up on the branch, let her legs dangle down, and squinted at the person below.
Sure enough, it was Devina standing below, continuing to throw stones in a childish manner.
"Awake, huh?"
Noticing the movement, Devina suddenly raised her eyebrows and asked Flossie in a hushed voice.
Sitting on the branch, Flossie lowered her eyelids, waiting for Devina to give her a satisfactory reason.
"They left."
Under the flickering firelight, Devina placed her hands to her mouth, whispering these two words.
After hearing this, Flossie slightly furrowed her brows.
She then looked in the direction of where Cassie and Bonnie were resting.
The fire there had died out, and faintly, the sounds of packing could be heard.
They did indeed seem to be preparing to leave.
Glancing at the time, it had just passed five o’clock, and the Jungle was pitch-dark, with the risk of losing direction if one rushed on their way.
Removing the military hat hanging from the branch, Flossie casually put it on her head.
The next moment, she leaped from the branch and landed on the one below.
Following that, with a flip, she landed smoothly on the ground.
She stood straight in front of Devina.
Devina, seeing how Flossie descended the tree, opened her eyes wide in disbelief, unable to hide her look of admiration.
"Want to follow?"
Snapping back to reality after two seconds, Devina instinctively asked Flossie.
