Are you afraid she’ll drag you down?
Or, are you afraid she’ll cling to you?!
A nameless rage assaulted her, and Becca Reyes’s face reddened even more, unclear whether from illness or anger.
"No," Calvin Ramos was somewhat surprised, apparently taken aback by her large reaction, but then his expression softened, and he looked at her seriously and after a while, he added, "I’m afraid you won’t be able to keep up."
Afraid she won’t be able to keep up.
Calvin Ramos had wanted to say that he was afraid she would get hurt if she kept this up, that she would be upset, that she would be in pain.
But, when the words reached his lips, he just couldn’t bring himself to say them.
They had long since had no relationship.
"Heh," Becca Reyes’s smile deepened, trying to suppress the irritation between her brows, yet her tone was disdainful, "You speak better than you sing."
Calvin Ramos watched her.
Feeling his gaze, Becca Reyes frowned slightly and turned her head away, focusing on the bonfire and the grilled fish.
Refusing to glance at him.
The two of them suddenly fell into silence.
The sky quietly darkened.
"That’s not what I meant."
After an unknown amount of time, Calvin Ramos suddenly spoke up, his voice warm and pleasant but tinged with an inexplicable tension.
Becca Reyes looked up in slight surprise.
Their gazes collided.
Abrupt awkwardness and tension spread rapidly through the air.
"The fish is ready."
Calvin Ramos shifted his gaze and took the grilled fish in front of him, then spread a layer of fine salt on it.
Immediately, he handed it to Becca Reyes, "Here."
Hungry from not eating all day, Becca Reyes felt weak all over, her fingers trembling slightly in the air.
Reaching out to take the stick, Becca Reyes said graciously, "Thank you."
Once finished speaking, she took the grilled fish and started eating, so famished that she didn’t even care about maintaining her image.
And why care about looking unattractive in front of Calvin Ramos when she no longer wanted any further developments with him?
Being full was what mattered most.
Calvin Ramos looked at her, watched her wolf down her food, thought for a moment and then cautioned, "Eat slowly, watch out for bones."
Becca Reyes responded indistinctly.
Without really paying him any attention.
Calvin Ramos couldn’t help but smile a little.
And said no more about it.
Taking another fish, Calvin Ramos went through the same process of salting it, but when he started eating, his manner was entirely different from Becca Reyes’s; slow and measured, graceful in motion, just as if he were dining at a table.
Becca Reyes lifted her eyes slightly, catching a glimpse of his refined eating manner in her peripheral vision.
Soon after, Becca Reyes’s gaze dropped again.
There, there.
You should have realized long ago that there was no chance with the man in front of you.

Whether it be interests, topics of conversation, habits, or even manners, none were on the same level.
They simply didn’t match.
Or rather, she didn’t measure up at all.
Becca Reyes, oh Becca Reyes, a person should be aware of their own worth, and you should have realized long ago the weight of your own value.
His being with you was simply a waste!
Becca Reyes’s mind was a whirlwind of thoughts.
The more she thought, the angrier she got.
On the hillside.
A wild boar, struck twice, lay on the ground, desperately struggling, emitting "huff huff" noises from its mouth, its limbs gradually losing strength.
Blood pooled on the ground.
Beside it, two people stood in opposition.
The sky darkened further.
Two tall silhouettes against the pale grey sky left only deep shadows.
"Alright, we can split it evenly, okay?"
Before the darkness of night set in, one figure could no longer stand still, the cool tone of their voice carrying an irked note.
