"Tsk tsk, that kind of woman..."
"Now you know how dark her heart is, right? She looks like a pure white lotus on the outside, but her heart is blacker than anyone’s. I just can’t stand people like that."
"So, will she get sued or something? With a heart that dark, she’s a blight on the living."
"Who knows? If the other party really decides to sue her... heh, that would really be something to see. She’d probably end up in jail for a few years."
"Serves her right, she brought it upon herself."
"Of course..."
Gradually, the sounds of conversation faded away.
Mia Lawson clenched her phone tightly, her tear-blurred eyes staring at the darkening screen, until she finally curled up in the restroom, breaking down into loud sobs.
"Ahh woowoo..."
What to do...
What should she do?!
When Flossie Wright went to the cafeteria, the cooks were already cleaning up the dishes.
Seeing her, Squad Leader Lin’s face was gloomy, yet he went back to the kitchen and made her two more dishes.
Flossie rarely said thanks.
Squad Leader Lin did not respond.
After eating, Flossie put her notebook back in the dormitory, then went to the playground to run two laps before jogging to the diving site.
"You’re early?"
Oscar Bluen, who was preparing the props, greeted her with a puzzled look.
Flossie nodded.
"Left hand injured?"
His gaze swept over her body and lingered briefly on her left hand.
Flossie nodded openly.
The whole Base must have heard about it by now; Oscar Bluen couldn’t possibly be unaware. He probably just asked as a formality.
After thinking for a moment, Oscar Bluen said, "Don’t dive today."
Flossie raised her eyebrows in confusion.
She’s getting a pass?
Quickly, Oscar Bluen added, "Violet Evans has gone to compete in a race and can’t make it back for a few days. You’ll temporarily take her place."
Flossie was surprised.
Being excused from training was already a favor, and now...
She, a trainee, was being made a temporary instructor?
Looking at her seriously, Oscar Bluen thought for a moment and explained, "You have the capability."
Flossie unhesitatingly accepted.
Oscar Bluen looked at her a few times, his expression slightly strange, but he quickly picked up some ropes from the ground.
Watching him throw a bunch of ropes to the side of the swimming pool, Flossie stood by, then asked, "Need help?"
Oscar Bluen rejected her outright, without even glancing at her.
Flossie remained where she was, lost in thought.
Making her a temporary instructor, in the end, must be related to yesterday’s incident.
An appeasement?
That didn’t seem quite right either.
Maybe there were many factors.
Flossie thought it over, but didn’t bother digging any deeper.
Eventually, she shrugged, took off her shoes and socks, and prepared to wait for the arrival of the other trainees.
Before long—
After swimming armed for five kilometers, a group of people, led by Drake Easton, strode mightily towards the swimming pool.
From a distance, Becca Reyes and Jocelyn Carrington spotted her, giving her several glances and almost signaling her with a wave.
Drake Easton blew the whistle forcefully, starting to assemble the hundred or so people.
They rapidly arranged themselves in neat rows.
Well-trained.
Yet, during this lineup process, more and more glances began to fall on Flossie.
Standing not far away, Flossie still did not move, holding a whistle in her hand, watching them form up.
As a result, the number of eyes on her continued to increase.
All filled with curiosity and bewilderment.
Drake Easton seemed to be aware beforehand; once he had the formation in order, he gave Flossie a brief look and left straight away.
Soon after, Oscar Bluen came over carrying a whistle and stopped at the front of the formation.
"Flossie Wright!"
Looking towards Flossie, Oscar Bluen called out with a stern voice.
Flossie walked over.
Amid many puzzled looks, Oscar Bluen began to introduce, "Your Instructor Violet has some business to attend to. For the next few days, Flossie Wright will serve as your temporary instructor..."
