The flashlight made a round in his hand, and was then abruptly turned on, aimed at them, instantly forcing both women to close their eyes.
"Oh, it’s you two."
Recognizing who they were, Rowdy Brightwill quickly put away his flashlight.
Stung by the brightness of the flashlight, Belinda Nichols instinctively shut her eyes. And yet, the word "both" in the opponent’s sentence prompted her to squint her eyes slightly, in an attempt to see what he really looked like.
However, her vision was blurry and she couldn’t see clearly.
"Are you a hostage?"
Flossie Wright took a few steps forward, swept a glance at Rowdy Brightwill, who was looking rather calm and relaxed, and then cast a second glance at the two extremely wronged "kidnappers" who were tied up.
This reversal of roles was just too comical.
"Yes," Rowdy Brightwill replied naturally, nodding with a bright smile on his handsome face, "Am I doing a good job as a hostage?"
No response.
Flossie Wright didn’t want to bother with him.
She had a hunch that... after all this, Rowdy Brightwill, the hostage, would definitely be in trouble with Austin Shepherd.
He took a step aside, positioning himself in front of her, showing some persistence.
"Not bad," Flossie Wright nodded, then said, "Get out."
Obviously, it was a perfunctory response.
However, Rowdy Brightwill touched his nose, unable to hide the laughter in his eyes.
Seeing Flossie Wright scoping out the room and preparing to leave, Rowdy Brightwill raised his eyebrows slightly, about to follow her when he saw her stop in her tracks.
"Grab their guns."
Flossie Wright directed them towards the two tied-up veteran soldiers.
"What for?"
"You’ll be the one to shoot."
Looking at him, Flossie Wright was very casual.
Rowdy Brightwill was taken aback, but quickly understood.
What she meant was...
She wanted him, the hostage, to help fire the gun and shoot the "enemy"?
Of course, Austin Shepherd had stated that new soldiers weren’t allowed to shoot, but he never said that hostages couldn’t. Therefore, the loophole that Flossie Wright was exploiting... was valid.
However, realizing all this, Rowdy Brightwill couldn’t help but crack a smirk.
Regardless, he hesitated for only two seconds before decisively heading towards the two veteran soldiers.
"Xu, you can’t do this..."
"You’re just going to listen to everything she says, huh? You’ve gone far beyond your duties as a hostage, Xu! That’s a violation!"
Both men glared at him with expressions of heart-wrenching frustration, clearly protesting against this situation.
This... This isn’t right!
Has Austin Shepherd gone mad, choosing a hedonist and a wavering character like Rowdy Brightwill to be a hostage?!
What’s worse, they’ve ended up being tied up by Rowdy Brightwill!
"Not a problem. After all, Shepherd didn’t specify, right?"
Grabbing a gun from their side, Rowdy Brightwill tapped one of the veteran soldiers on the shoulder. He was all smiles, his voice sounding as though he was negotiating.
"Xu, you’ve gone too far." The soldier looked angrily at him, his tone initially serious, but soon turned bitter. "Believe it or not, later we’ll team up and deal with you!"
"Not a problem, I’m game anytime."
Rowdy Brightwill kept his cheerful demeanor, his eyes curving into attractive crescents with his smile.
At the door, Belinda Nichols watched as Flossie Wright approached. She spoke softly, her voice firm. "Why is he helping us?"
Glancing at Rowdy Brightwill who was getting up, Flossie Wright casually replied, "He’s asking for it."
Slightly pursing her lips, a brief flash of puzzlement passed over Belinda Nichols’ icy expression.
