Through the scope in her hand, the figures in the distance could be seen clearly.
Four hundred meters away, the figure of Neal Thompson swayed as if about to fall. His training uniform was covered in mud, looking extremely pitiful. The oil paint on his face had long been obscured by the mud, but the contours of his face were clearly visible.
He walked with a limp, struggling mightily to move, his left leg apparently injured.
Neal wasn’t carrying much. Apart from the standard issue Type 95 automatic rifle in his hand, the only remaining item was a water bottle hanging from his waist. The bottle swung back and forth as he walked, like it could fall off at any moment.
"Is that him?"
Even with naked eye, Becca Reyes was able to identify him with her naked eye. But she was not entirely certain, and therefore asked again.
Lifting her eyes from the scope, Flossie Wright lowered the raised sniper rifle, and replied to Becca Reyes with a simple "Hmm."
"Can you shoot him before he notices?"
Becca moved her wrist, enquired enthusiastically. The shallow laugh in her slightly narrowed eyes, made it seem like a simple joke.
"I can’t," Flossie looked at her, shrugged, and said, "He has already noticed us."
The corner of Becca Reyes’ mouth twitched slightly. Could it be that she genuinely intended to kill Neal Thompson?
However, just as Flossie had said, Neal had already noticed them. Perhaps he could not yet confirm their identities, but he could determine from their attire that they were part of the Red Team. So, without much thought, Neal quickly picked up the pace towards them.
In the meantime, Calvin Ramos and Stuart Weston had already packed up their sleeping bags and ventured out of the damp and gloomy cave, handing out the breakfast ration to them - a compressed biscuit, two pieces of chocolate, and half a bottle of water.
"Who’s coming?"
As he handed out the breakfast, Stuart Weston asked with keen interest.
"Neal Thompson."
Becca Reyes gave him a sideways glance, then eyed the breakfast in her hand, sighing inwardly.
Looks like their breakfast portions had just shrunk too.
Thus, on the same wavelength as her, Stuart was quick to put the remaining biscuits and chocolate back in his bag. Then proceeded to feign ignorance and began eating his ration of compressed biscuit.
It wasn’t that he was particularly stingy, but he really did dislike Neal Thompson.
After such a heavy rain last night, he could drive Flossie and Becca out to look for food... How much hatred did that take?
Anyhow, he was unable to comprehend the ruthless and relentless nature of this woman.
Calvin Ramos was standing next to him, his handsome face looked somewhat cold under the dim light. Usually not one to express his emotions, he too seemed to dislike Neal Thompson.
"Flossie Wright, Becca Reyes... why is it you guys?"
The group of four stood at the narrow mouth of the cave, dining leisurely on their breakfast as they waited for Neal Thompson’s arrival.
However, in contrast to their calmness, Neal Thompson was so surprised that he almost dropped his jaw.
He certainly saw some figures here and decided to approach, but he couldn’t conceive that these figures could be Flossie Wright and her team, who he "commanded" to search for food the previous night!
What a small world indeed!
Becca Reyes turned her body, seemingly only noticing the presence of Neal Thompson at this moment. She took a quick glance at the tattered and disheveled Neal Thompson, then raised her hand naturally and greeted him with a smile, saying, "Wow, what a coincidence."
At this moment, Neal Thompson didn’t have the arrogance he usually showed in front of them. His painted face paired with dirty clothes looked like a beggar who had just rolled out of a mud pit. Coupled with the look of fatigue and debility as if he hadn’t slept all night, it seemed like he could collapse at any moment.
