In this assembly area, she had been waiting for more than twenty hours.
During this time, she had met many people and witnessed many trivial matters.
There had been anger, there had been relief, and there had been helplessness.
Now looking back, she felt very calm because what she could see were all living humans, not all of them good, but living beings were always more likable than lifeless corpses.
In a daze, Flossie Wright withdrew her gaze.
Soon, Glenn Hutchinson asked again, "The volunteers from the school before, was that your suggestion?"
Flossie murmured an ambiguous reply.
The hand resting on her shoulder applied a slight pressure, and Glenn Hutchinson said, "So, you can’t just stand by in this country."
After some thought, Flossie suddenly realized she knew what Glenn Hutchinson was trying to say.
At heart, they were the same.
"I am normal, flesh and blood. I’ll do what I can," Flossie said, "If this were another country and someone fell down in front of me, I would help them up."
Turning her head, Flossie hesitated for a moment, then continued, "I don’t like the Forces’ sense of order, but when you are conducting rescues, I still feel that your existence is a fortune for this country. But that doesn’t mean we get along because there are many people who share my thoughts, and I don’t necessarily get along with all of them."
Gazing at her intently, Glenn Hutchinson affirmed, "You are different."
"How am I different?"
Flossie asked with a surprised smile.
"You don’t like military officers."
"Dislike can be a starting point for exploration." Loosening his grip on her fingers, Glenn Hutchinson spoke calmly, "You are very rational, so we may have disagreements, discussions, and arguments, but we won’t fight."
Flossie looked at him in surprise.
After all that talk, he really brought the topic back around.
His sole purpose, was to prove that they wouldn’t "fight every other day"?
Glenn Hutchinson, you are truly impressive.
"On this matter, congratulations, you’ve convinced me," Flossie said as she pulled her hand free and nonchalantly flexed her fingers, then turned to look into the distance, "However, you don’t have more time to convince me of anything else."
With a flicker in his eyes, Glenn Hutchinson said, "That’s okay, we have time."
Looking around lazily, Flossie deflected the conversation.
She didn’t want to have such a conversation with him a second time.
It was as exhausting as having fought a battle.
Exhausting.
"Be careful on your way."
Without lingering, Glenn Hutchinson left with a final word of caution.
In the distance, there were quite a few military officers in civilian clothes, currently climbing into vans one after another.
Glenn Hutchinson was naturally one of them.
At times like these, when he changed into civilian clothes, it was impossible for him not to be involved in something.
Shrugging her shoulders, the weak position she had been in during their conversation circled her mind, and Flossie Wright faintly smiled, hands in her pockets, she turned and headed towards the tent.
It was time to sleep.
The next day.
Just six o’clock.
Dressed in her own clothes, Flossie Wright packed her things and walked out of the tent.
The clothes belonging to Ann Cavanaugh had already been washed, and she estimated they would be returned that morning.
Accustomed to comfortable and simple clothing, she had no interest in restrictive sweaters.
