The night was hazy, with a slightly cool breeze stirring and lifting the strands of hair under her hat brim.
Two figures running under the night sky, on such a silent night, formed a unique landscape.
"How long do you plan on running?"
After about four or five laps, Becca Reyes moved closer to Flossie Wright and asked unexpectedly.
Actually, the two of them did not plan this beforehand. Just last night, Becca decided she wanted to improve her physical fitness. To her surprise, she woke up this morning to find Flossie already dressed up and ready to go out. Unsure whether she was excited or shocked, Becca immediately joined Flossie for a jog.
However, while jogging can indeed improve physical fitness, it does not enhance other abilities. Otherwise, the other soldiers would only need to run every day, and there would be no need for other types of training. Therefore, no matter how much they improve their fitness, they can’t compare with the new recruits who came with them.
"I don’t know."
Flossie Wright opened her thin lips and answered calmly.
The most pressing need for this body right now is to enhance physical fitness. She doesn’t intend to compete with other new recruits; it could even be said that she doesn’t consider these new recruits worth her attention. Although she hasn’t had military training, her experience in carrying out missions is something they cannot match. Without several years of time, they too would die in her hands if they encountered her in a mission.
Therefore, this is pointless to her.
After stealing glances at Flossie Wright, Becca sighed quietly to herself. They have no other option but to improve their physical fitness right now, and competitiveness in other areas would be futile.
The two of them were running down the track at the same pace, and with their similar heights, they looked like one person running from the side, even their footfalls seemed to blend into one another.
Under the streetlights, a figure appeared out of nowhere. He stood erect, his camouflage uniform exceptionally handsome. The cross-armed pose added a hint of laziness. The orange light fell from his side, casting a shallow, fuzzy outline on his firm and deep profile, making it more hazy.
Even in the darkness, his presence was highly pronounced.
Flossie Wright and Becca Reyes watched this surprise visitor. They simultaneously stopped running, with Becca watching him warily, fearing that this man who appeared in the middle of the night might come up with some sort of disciplinary punishment for them.
"Would you like to try their training?"
A deep, rich voice sounded in the lonely night, incredibly pleasant. Glenn Hutchinson strided forward, getting further from the light until he was completely out of the soft illumination, thus halting his steps.
In the dim light, his silhouette was more blurred, almost merging with the darkness. When his deep and sharp gaze fell on them, however, it was clearly noticeable, containing a bit of scrutiny, laziness, and carelessness. As if the question just now had been just a whimsical thought and held no ulterior motives.
Becca Reyes pondered for a moment and answered, making no attempt to hide her desire, her eyes shining resolutely.
No matter who the other party was or what his intentions were, she was only a cook now, with nothing worthwhile to scheme for. Moreover, she firmly believed that Forces would operate in transparency and there was no need to worry about tricks behind the seemingly favorable offer.
Flossie Wright raised her eyelids and locked eyes with Glenn Hutchinson. The two of them, who were good at concealing their emotions, didn’t detect any sentiment from each other’s gazes. They simply exchanged looks, dark pupils revealing a bit of scrutiny, then both eyes shifted away as if nothing had happened.
