Christ Cartwright nodded, but avoided her gaze, seemingly too shy to look at her.
Her mind preoccupied with other thoughts, Flossie said to him without paying much attention, "Then I’ll be off."
Flossie walked downhill.
However, after taking a couple of steps, she stopped and asked, "What are your plans for the future?"
"Me?" Christ was surprised.
"I’ll go outside," his eyebrows knitting together, Christ’s tone suddenly became serious. "I won’t stay here. If my nephew is still here, I’ll take him with me."
"Good." She nodded, lifting the corners of her lips, "Your number is in my contact list; reach out if you need anything."
Christ was taken aback.
Before he could respond, Flossie had already turned around, her figure receding into the distance.
In fact, Flossie had anticipated that he probably wouldn’t ask her for anything; even if he were in dire straits, he wouldn’t turn to someone he’d only met once.
If she couldn’t offer more help, at the very least, she wanted to give herself some peace of mind.
Three o’clock.
Back at the Assembly Area.
The number of disaster victims here had increased. Unlike at night, they needed to move around, bustling through the corridors.

Yet, most had the look of exhaustion and grief on their faces, wandering as if in a daze, not a single smile to be seen.
The little Tent assigned to her was pitched on the outskirts of the Assembly Area. On approaching it, it was clear it wasn’t conspicuous, an army green color, no different from the others.
Passing by, Flossie saw three children huddled around, and another child coming out of the Tent, holding a military coat, some snacks, and a hot water bottle.
Moved by the scene, she walked over.
"Is it really okay for us to do this?"
The naive voice of a seven or eight-year-old girl, looking up innocently at the child who had just emerged from the Tent.
The two other children beside her remained silent, heads bowed.
"It’s fine," the child holding the items marched forward, confidently declaring, "We don’t have moms and dads anymore, we’re all sufferers. Taking just this little bit, even if they’re not happy, they won’t blame us."
After hearing this, Flossie stopped in her tracks.
She focused her gaze, taking a good look at the child. Probably around ten years old, taller by half a head than the others, he seemed to be the leader among them.
He held his head high, speaking with righteous indignation, pride, and confidence.
Flossie chuckled.
His own misfortune, he took for granted, should make the whole world mourn for him.
"Mommy, I want mommy..."
"Waaah, I don’t want these snacks anymore, I don’t want to be a bad kid!"
"Ah waaah..."
The other three children, two girls, started to cry and squatted down, while the boy, feeling guilty, ran away in refusal.
The leading boy stood there, stunned, watching them, somewhat at a loss.
Flossie, about four or five meters away from them, didn’t move, silently watching them with furrowed brows.
After a while, she turned and walked away.
Following the Road, she didn’t get far before she encountered Perry Reed coming from the opposite direction.
In the crowd, he stood out the most.
Clad in a white shirt with the top two buttons undone and black casual pants, the shirt tucked in to reveal a leather belt, he cut a tall and straight figure. A black jacket rested on his shoulders, one hand pulling at the jacket collar, the other in his pants pocket, the cuffs unbuttoned and rolled up to the elbows, exposing his muscular forearms.
