"Depends on the mood."
"Well, can I divulge some info?" Willie Ash persisted, vowing to defend his right to communicate with the outside world. "I heard Flossie Wright is training pretty hard lately. It’s strange, considering how physically weak she is, but she hasn’t been lagging behind..."
In no time, a death glare was shot his way.
Willie, taking the hint, quickly shut his mouth.
Unfazed, Glenn Hutchinson continued to walk.
Willie, however, was quite shaken. After hesitant moments, he bravely approached Glenn again.
"Also, I heard Flossie and Rowdy Brightwill are getting closer. They’ve been hanging out a lot lately. Captain, you’re close with Brightwill. If one day they ended up together, can you let us off for a day to celebrate their good news..."
With an insincere smile plastered on his face, Willie Ash beamed with ulterior motives.
Glenn Hutchinson halted in his steps.
Seeing this, Willie’s smirk grew wider.
"Dallion Collins!"
Looking up, Glenn Hutchinson called out to a figure walking not too far away.
Upon hearing his name, Dallion Collins instantly turned around and walked towards them, "What’s up?"
Witnessing this scene, Willie’s heart raced. Swiftly and discreetly, he began to back away.
"Loosen him up."
Glenn Hutchinson glanced back, his gaze fixated on Willie Ash, who was attempting to flee.
Instantly, Willie paid no mind to other things, his feet transformed into a flurry of gusts, running as fast as he could.
"Captain, just leave him to me," Dallion Collins smirked wickedly, flexed his fingers, turned to the retreating silhouette of Willie and yelled, "Willie, stop running! Let’s hang out."
As his voice faded, Dallion disappeared from his original position.
A gust of wind blew past, and soon enough, Willie, who had run quite a distance, was easily caught by Dallion.
"Ah... Dallion, please don’t hit me in the face..."
"Damn it; what is a sniper doing being so agile!"
"I said don’t hit my face! How will I explain to my girlfriend if you ruin my face..."
From a distance, Willie Ash’s wailing could be heard echoing far and wide.
After a few glances, Glenn Hutchinson lost interest. Thinking it was time to teach Willie some fighting skills, he turned and head towards the office building.
As for his brothers, who considered themselves close friends, they emerged from the canteen upon hearing the commotion. Seeing Willie being "tormented", everyone excitedly gathered around, even exclaiming words of encouragement.
"What did Willie do to Dallion?"
"Dallion couldn’t care less about him. Willie dug his grave by messing with the Captain."
"No wonder..."
"He deserves it for kicking a hornet’s nest. Of all people, he had to provoke the Captain."
North Sea Fleet.
Just before the start of night training, Flossie Wright finished eating the steamed buns Rowdy Brightwill and Belinda Nichols had fought for her.
Just in time to regain the energy she would need for the night.
"Are you full?"
Just before assembly, Rowdy Brightwill approached Flossie Wright and reconfirmed.
"Should I steal more buns for you?"
Before Flossie Wright could respond, Rowdy Brightwill turned and head towards the kitchen, muttering to himself, "Never mind, I should go find Squad Leader Lin."
He had only taken two steps when Flossie Wright grabbed the collar of his uniform.
"Aren’t you training tonight?" Flossie Wright asked.
"It’s the weekend, so we have fewer drills."
"Alright," Flossie Wright pulled him back, "Then you should rest properly. Stop meddling."
Rowdy Brightwill was left speechless.
Flossie Wright let go of him, and under the urging whistle, she followed the crowd toward the training grounds.
With a glance at him, Belinda Nichols followed closely behind.
After a moment’s thought, Rowdy Brightwill sighed, dragged his feet out the door, scanned the vicinity, finally setting his target on the dormitory.
Since Derek Moore was coming for a visit, it was time to notify the others.
That night, Nathan Foster, who had always conscientiously trained with Austin Shepherd, suddenly abandoned his duties and left all the training tasks to Austin.
Austin sighed helplessly.
Not surprised though...
If those newbies knew that man was coming to see Flossie Wright, they would probably be up in arms already.
"Five kilometer cross-country, five kilometer armed swimming, ten rounds of 400-meter obstacles..."
Three tasks for the night. By the end, everyone, exhausted and weakened, breathed a sigh of relief.
But, when Austin Shepherd blew the whistle, everyone had to gather all their strength to stand up.
As always, Austin summarized the performance of the day, eyed Becca Reyes and Calvin Ramos, and then collected the ranking list.
"That’ll be all for today. Dismissed."
His voice, as always, was hearty.
The moment he finished speaking, the fidgety soldiers instantly sagged onto each other, moving slowly towards the dormitory.
Under high-intensity training, even with long-term adaptation, it’s impossible for one’s body to easily bear the strain.
"Flossie Wright, come with me."
Austin Shepherd suddenly called out to Flossie Wright, who was about to leave.
Pausing slightly, Flossie Wright said to Belinda Nichols, "You go ahead."
Nodding, Belinda Nichols didn’t linger and left.
Turning her body, Flossie Wright walked up to Austin Shepherd.
By this time, there were only a few scattered people left around. None of them paid them any attention.
"Is it about Becca Reyes and Calvin Ramos again?"
Flossie Wright broke the silence first.
"They..." Austin Shepherd frowned, thinking for a moment, then shook his head, "We’ll discuss their issue later. I came to tell you, someone wants to meet you tomorrow morning."
"Mhm," Flossie Wright raised her eyebrows and asked abruptly, "Can I refuse?"
"Well," Austin Shepherd looked at her, a smile in his eyes, "If that is what you wish, of course, you can. However, I’m not sure why he wants to see you, but I think you should meet him."
The rookies would probably kick up a fuss if they knew that man specifically asked to see Flossie Wright.
"I understand."
Nodding, Flossie Wright seemed to agree.
That person...
If she wasn’t mistaken, it was the man from the afternoon phone call.
