For the past eight years, Grady Wright had never feared Flossie Wright.
Except for this time.
In Grady’s view, Flossie was the type to be easily bullied. No matter how cruel his pranks were, a stressed out Flossie would merely chase him or complain to their father. But none of that was a big deal to Grady. With a supportive older sister and a loving mother, he always had a guardian. Any time Flossie tried to fight or tell on him, it came to no avail.
Just before going to bed the previous night, he heard that Flossie would be returning. Today, surprisingly, he got up quite early, wandering around the large courtyard for a long while, figuring out how to drive her away.
Fearfully looking at the woman standing before him, Grady instinctively shrank his neck, as if the easily bullied lamb had suddenly turned into a big bad wolf.
Despite being the one who was hit, despite the hurt on his forehead from a hard stone making him want to cry, the moment Flossie’s gaze was on him, he didn’t dare to utter a sound.
Just one look, and he was utterly terrified.
After glaring at Grady for a while, not until he was petrified on the spot, daring not to move, did Flossie slowly crouch down and casually ask: "Does it hurt?"
There was no concern, no worry. Those simple words carried only a jarring chill.
Grady looked at her warily, unsure how to respond.
However, Flossie’s gaze, like a sweeping falcon, sent waves of pressure he had never experienced before. On instinct, he felt fear, wishing he could step further away from this woman. But at that moment, he seemed to have lost his ability to move. No matter how much he wanted to run away, his feet refused to budge.
This was the first time since his birth that he had ever been so scared, so frightened that he even forgot how to cry.
"It does hurt."
After a long while, Grady, with his teary eyes, looked at Flossie as though she would swallow him whole at any moment, scaring him into complete submission.
Flossie squinted her eyes, "Who did this?"
For Grady, who had the ability to think and was of normal intelligence, facing such a question, he blinked a couple of times then reluctantly responded, "I.. I fell by myself."
His timidity and helplessness at this moment was drastically different from his arrogant demeanor earlier.

At this point, Grady was filled with intense regret.
If he’d known...
If he’d known, he would’ve just stayed in his room.
As Flossie slightly lifted her eyelids, her piercing gaze still didn’t falter. Her face held a cold, merciless expression, "Do you want to fall again?"
"No..." Grady glanced at her timidly, feeling the pressure from her, and plucked up the courage to reply, "I don’t want to."
With that answer, Flossie slowly stood up. Casting a last indifferent look at him, she then sauntered off towards the garage.
Flossie didn’t necessarily want to be at odds with a child. It was normal for kids to play tricks and misbehave. However, this doesn’t mean they could be reckless. When the severity of an act reaches a certain height, one can no longer see the culprit as merely a child.
Fight fire with fire.
When a person wants to use violence against others, they should be prepared for reciprocal retribution.
The cold wind howled and the snow fell unrestrained.
Returning to her room along the path she remembered, Flossie had just put down her backpack - organized by her mother - when there was a sudden knock on her door.
