Annoying as hell!
Thinking about it, Rowdy Brightwill cleared his throat and tentatively began, "I just wanted to ask..."
"Is it about Flossie Wright again?"
Before he could finish, Bard Walker cut him off.
Taken aback, Rowdy Brightwill nodded vigorously.
Adding fuel to the fire!
With a stern face, Bard Walker raised his hand and threw a stack of documents from his desk at him.
The angry gesture was somewhat slow, and naturally, Rowdy Brightwill stepped aside, easily dodging it.
Not wanting to look at him, Bard Walker slapped the desk and spun his office chair half around.
Shortly after, Rowdy Brightwill bent down, picked up all the documents, and then placed them back on the office desk.
"Captain, I just wanted to ask you..."
He cut him off with irritation.
"Calm down, isn’t Flossie bringing us glory? Not to mention anything else, just her alone, taking out dozens of them, that’s still a brilliant deed, isn’t it?"
"Glory my ass—"
Grabbing the documents at the edge of the desk, Bard Walker raised his hand, intending to throw them straight at Rowdy Brightwill’s forehead, but as he turned away, he saw the teacup handed to him, paused for a moment, and then looked at Rowdy Brightwill’s beaming smile, warm as a spring breeze, unknowingly endearing.
His expression stiffened, Bard Walker snorted coldly and took the teacup.
"Hehe," seeing him satisfied, Rowdy Brightwill struck while the iron was hot and pressed on, "So, are they holding onto the ’source of the information’ and not letting go?"
"What else?!"
Having taken a sip of tea, Bard Walker flung the cup aside.
Just as Rowdy Brightwill had said, with Flossie Wright taking out dozens of their men by herself, the other side couldn’t save face. Wouldn’t they cling to any suspicion and come looking for trouble?
What’s vital is, this matter really isn’t easy to prove!
"I’ve got some information over here, not sure if it’s of any use."
"Spill it."
"Last time, er, just two days ago, I was on the phone with Flossie, and she asked me if the ’Stronghold’ was all set up..."
"And you told her?!"
Banging the table, Bard Walker immediately stood up.
"No," Rowdy Brightwill touched his nose and straightened up, speaking firmly, "She just asked if it was ready, I didn’t say. She must have guessed. I figure that’s when she prepared to go straight for the ’Stronghold’."
"You!" lifting his hand and pointing at him, Bard Walker cursed angrily, "Why didn’t you say so earlier?!"
"I’m only seeing you now." Rowdy Brightwill looked rather innocent.
Bard Walker was blazing mad.
After a moment, Rowdy Brightwill hesitated, then added, "Well, I have an idea over here..."
"Don’t beat around the bush, just talk!"
Once again, Bard Walker interrupted him impatiently.
"Didn’t they say no one would believe her analysis?" Rowdy Brightwill, bracing his hands on the desk, spoke excitedly, "Why don’t we find someone who’s unaware and have them find the Stronghold in a short time?"
"Easier said than done!"
Frowning deeply, Bard Walker sat back in his office chair, still looking troubled.
Rowdy Brightwill watched him, pondering whether to share the analysis he and Drake Easton had made, but soon he saw Bard Walker’s expression soften.
Sitting up, Bard Walker waved at him, "Alright, alright, I’ve got an idea. You go out first..."
"Enough! Can you stop dawdling and get out!"
Interrupting him, Bard Walker picked up the phone from the desk, obviously quite agitated.
Fortunately, Rowdy Brightwill was easygoing and could understand his urgency, so he shrugged his shoulders and left.
It wasn’t long before.
Bard Walker dialed the phone.
"Hutchinson, buddy, you got a minute? I need to borrow someone..."
