Glenn Hutchinson lowered his eyes to look at her. Taking advantage of his height, he raised his hand to her hair, gently ruffling it with indulgence. His deep voice was mixed with tenderness, "Come back early."
"..." Flossie Wright’s mouth twitched hard.
However, just as she prepared to remove Glenn Hutchinson’s hand, he had already let go and turned to leave.
Three black lines appeared on Flossie’s forehead.
This man, truly incredible!
"Not bad," Daisy Deacon stood in front of Flossie, smiling as she tidied Flossie’s hair, opening her mouth with a hint of relief, "A bit more feminine now."
Flossie gave her a sidelong glance.
"Tsk, you don’t know," Daisy hooked her arm around Flossie’s shoulder as they walked out, speaking with heartfelt emotion, "I always thought you’d end up with a woman for life. You know, the kind a little shorter than you, who can wheedle, cook, and is a caring, good wife and mother... Oh, by the way, is your cooking still as bad as ever?"
"What good wife and mother?"
Directly ignoring that last question, the air pressure around Flossie suddenly dropped.
What a load of nonsense!
Daisy teasingly extended a finger, sliding it over her cheek, "You didn’t know? Everyone in Saughter thinks you’re like a man."
"...Damn." Flossie’s expression changed.
"Such a high praise, feeling unworthy?" Daisy’s smile deepened.
"What do you think?" Flossie’s smile carried a hidden edge.
There was a smile in Daisy’s eyes.
Not extremely angry, Flossie crossed her arms, "Is this how you guys smear me behind my back?"
"This is already the better part," Daisy said lightly, "Don’t think I don’t know how you used to badmouth me."
For once, Flossie felt a bit guilty.
When they were all hanging out together, drinking and eating, chatting about everything, and since Daisy always played the good cop in Saughter, every time her name came up, Erina Taylor would nonchalantly join the crowd, fanning the flames of Daisy’s "topic."
It was really just to have fun, adding a bit of "truth" from an outsider’s perspective to give an "objective evaluation," mostly just for laughs.
Thinking about it, Flossie decided not to pursue Daisy’s teasing any further.
Clapping her hands, she led Daisy directly to her temporary dormitory.

Previously unaware of the situation, she had been quite deceived by Glenn Hutchinson. Once she became familiar with the campsite, she realized there were plenty of rooms in this run-down dormitory building; most were just not tidied up and used as storerooms. But if you really wanted to clear out a room, it would only take half an hour’s work.
Flossie managed to hoodwink two diligent comrades; the two of them had the room cleaned up within half an hour.
However, overall, it was still somewhat rundown.
"Really not going to stay with me?"
Daisy hooked Flossie’s hand, blinking her eyes.
"Uh," Flossie pried her hand away, speaking particularly seriously, "I tend to prioritize love over friends."
"Pfft." Daisy laughed, giving her a playful shove out the door, "Alright, you love-prioritizing person, good luck, I want to see a live person tomorrow."
Flossie hadn’t even had a chance to speak, and the door slammed shut with a loud "bang."
Flossie rolled her eyes speechlessly.
Fiddling with the camouflage hat in her hand, Flossie thought with some distress, but eventually lifted her leg to walk up to the third floor.
Just like Daisy implied, going back now would not end well, but Flossie knew Glenn Hutchinson. Comforting him for a bit now would be fine, but if she really were "out all night," while Glenn wouldn’t do something as lacking in morals as coming to snatch her in the middle of the night, he would undoubtedly give her a lesson.
