When Flossie Wright returned, she ran into Sandy Cruz coming out of the male soldiers’ dormitory building.

Sandy Cruz was one of the second batch to return, having been back at the Base for over half a month now.
However, Flossie had been busy this whole time, caught up in training, so busy she didn’t even have time to sleep, and even at the cafeteria she would eat swiftly and leave. Remarkably, she hadn’t bumped into Sandy Cruz even once.
"What a coincidence."
Flossie went out of her way and stopped in front of Sandy Cruz, who was on his way, and greeted him.
Having already noticed her, Sandy Cruz walked out from the dim light of the street lamps and stood facing Flossie.
After three months without seeing each other, Sandy Cruz’s aura had grown stronger. His skin had turned a healthy wheat color from being under the sun for many days, but that discouragingly cold aura of his hadn’t changed at all.
Casting a glance down at her, Sandy Cruz asked in a low, lazy voice.
There was no hint of inquiry, as if he had expected the outcome all along.
"Passed." Flossie confirmed, then shrugged her shoulders, "Have you had dinner yet?"
Sandy Cruz replied indifferently.
"Then let me treat you," Flossie said, raising her eyebrows and speaking with ease.
After looking at her curiously for a moment, Sandy Cruz slightly furrowed his brows, but didn’t question her behavior too much.
Sandy Cruz wasn’t close to Rowdy Brightwill, perhaps because Sandy Cruz was closer to Flossie, and although Rowdy held no animosity toward him, he didn’t make much of an effort to be friendly either.
Moreover, Sandy Cruz did not like crowded places. Knowing that the cafeteria would be lively tonight, he had gone back to the dormitory to take a shower before going to have his dinner.
Around seven o’clock, under Flossie’s lead, Sandy Cruz arrived at the kitchen through the back door.
The door from the kitchen to the cafeteria was closed, but the noise inside still filled the kitchen. It was only better once they got to the courtyard outside.
Flossie finally understood that the commotion in the cafeteria was not only for Rowdy Brightwill’s birthday but also because the others had been too repressed during their training and were seizing the opportunity to let loose recklessly.
As soon as she entered the kitchen, the cook who was cleaning up greeted her with a wave and a smile.
Surveying the kitchen, she saw him alone.
"Where are the others?"
"Oh, those pigs in the back got fat enough, so Sergeant Lin took a few people to help slaughter them," the cook hurriedly explained. After a pause, he continued, "As for the Vice Team Leader, it seems like she’s sick or something. She went back to the Dormitory after cooking dinner."
When it came to Neal Thompson, the cook obviously had an average attitude – ever since Yvonne Watson left, Neal couldn’t find anyone else to lash out at, and her temper had worsened, often flaring up at people.
Far from endearing.
Nodding, Flossie arched her eyebrows and asked, "Can we make a couple of dishes?"
"Sure." The cook answered reflexively, but his voice had just fallen when he hesitated and looked at Flossie, "You...?"
"No good?" Flossie spread her hands.
The cook stared at her in astonishment, momentarily lost for words.
Of course, it’s fine!
After all, she was not going to blow up the kitchen.
But considering her cooking skills, was she really there to make something edible or to set a trap?
"He’ll do it."
Lazily looking up, Flossie raised her hand and pointed to Sandy Cruz standing beside her.
Suddenly, Sandy Cruz’s face darkened.
He knew that with Flossie’s cooking skills, there was no chance she would actually do the work herself.
"Oh, that’s good then," the cook sighed in relief, then pointed to some ingredients on the side, "The remaining ingredients are all there. If you can find Sergeant Lin, you might even get the freshest meat."
