Flossie Wright seemed a bit puzzled, but nodded anyway.
"You," Kenny Jackson hesitated for a moment, then asked tentatively, "Did you not attend the morning training?"
Kenny Jackson was on duty near this spot, sometimes he stood guard and occasionally observed the surroundings. Unexpectedly, Nathan Foster was furious today. He did not know what had provoked him, which drew Jackson’s interest. Only later did he find out a rookie had inexplicably skipped training.
Whether it was due to missing the training was hard to say. Allegedly, Flossie Wright had not returned since she went out shopping, and she never carried a phone, so there was no way to contact her. Everyone at the base knew about Foster’s violent temper. Despite being scolded and trained, he never changed his impulsive and irritable nature even after two years.
If Flossie Wright ran into him again during training, who knows how severely Nathan Foster would reprimand her.
After carefully explaining Foster’s situation to Flossie Wright, Sargent Kenny Jackson discovered that Glenn Hutchinson and Flossie did not react much. It seemed like they probably had already guessed the situation. Figuring he might have spoken out of turn, he immediately clamped his mouth shut, and stood aside staring straight ahead, morphing into the guise of an impassive watchdog, committed to his assigned mission.
Glenn Hutchinson had previously mentioned taking Flossie Wright to training. His word was his bond, and he would not back out halfway.
The training spot for climbing and descending was on a steep cliff, underneath which roiled aggressive sea waves. It took at least half an hour to walk from the base to there. Glenn Hutchinson originally planned to slow down for Flossie, but was surprised when she, who was usually leisurely and careless, quickened her pace, cutting the travel time down to twenty minutes.
Upon leaving the layered trees behind, their field of vision suddenly broadened. On the scarcely vegetated cliff, a large group of rookies with grim expressions were standing around looking hesitant, their feet seemingly rooted to the ground, and were unable to move freely.
Thanks to Glenn Hutchinson’s task of delivering meals, Flossie Wright regularly wandered around the base and often strolled up the mountain. She had essentially toured every training facility. She had seen this cliff before; it was steep and dangerous. People with acrophobia would feel dizzy and wobbly just standing on it. Climbing down would require risking one’s life.
These rookies weren’t without climbing and descending training. However, their usual training facilities were safe. They either practiced on buildings several stories high or on small cliffs about dozens of meters high that weren’t overly stimulating.
The feeling of risking their lives now...
There would definitely be someone chickening out.
"What are you all waiting for, do you need me to help you?!"
Nathan Foster’s booming roar was heard from a distance, deafening and frightening the rookies further.
Flossie Wright touched her nose. Considering Glenn Hutchinson’s unemotional way of punishment, Nathan Foster’s training method seemed somewhat simplistic in comparison.
Soon, some rookies noticed Flossie Wright’s arrival. Because some of them wanted to divert their attention, the ranting Nathan Foster naturally discovered her presence.
Seeing Flossie Wright standing leisurely in the distance, Nathan Foster seethed with rage. He was embroiled in training these rookies almost everyday at the military camp and had seen soldiers laze around by making up various excuses to skip training, but he had never seen a rookie that simply skipped training without a word!
