"Squeak—"
The door was abruptly flung open.
Immersed within soft light, a shadow in black suddenly loomed at the entrance, a chilling aura rushing towards her without warning. It was so icy it seemed to freeze the surrounding air.
A duckbill cap was pulled low, partially hiding the brow and showing a pair of calm, deep-set eyes which held an alarming intensity. The woman, enveloped in black attire that complimented her slender and graceful figure, radiated a mysterious, dangerous aura.
"Giving up already?"
With a slight lift of her eyes, Flossie inspected the shocked expression that appeared on the woman’s face. Leaning lightly against the door, she elegantly watched the woman she had surprised.
The woman clutched her phone tighter, a sense of unease and danger stole through her.
She had killed many, handled numerous missions and encountered many capable targets, but the behaviour of the woman before her surpassed her expectations.
Caught off guard, yet the woman made no move to retaliate, instead, she seemed to enjoy the moment.
It was as if...
She already knew her identity.
This person, appeared neither friend nor foe, indeed, indecipherable.
"Who do you work for?"
A sense of unease passed through her mind, the woman looked warily at Flossie and questioned in a hushed and guarded voice.
"What happened?"
The response was not from Flossie, but from the frantic voice on the other end of the phone.
Flossie squinted slightly, shooting a suggestive glance towards the cell phone.
With a firm resolve, the woman, after some hesitation, determinedly ended the call.
Perhaps it was intuition, or perhaps it was experience, but somehow the woman subconsciously believed that the person before her had no intention of causing her harm.
If her intention was to harm, the best opportunity would have been in the car. Many secluded places were passed when they drove along, each one of them was good enough to destroy her without a trace. There was no need to come all the way here.
"Tell me, what do you intend to do?"
After ending the call, the woman placed the phone into her bag, and confidently asked Flossie.
With a flash of satisfaction, Flossie placed a finger on the brim of her cap, lifting it slightly. She then approached a few steps. The partially-opened door was now tightly shut.
"What’s your purpose?"
Flossie asked casually, stopping a step away from the woman.
Her presence projected an overwhelming pressure. The moment she stood still, the heavy, static air was downright suffocating.
The woman had seen plenty in her life, she had been through life-and-death situations, her emotional resilience wasn’t something ordinary people could imagine.
Yet, just by standing in front of her, Flossie could break down her defenses, leaving her with no room to fight back, like a flood of water sweeping her away.
The person before her, carrying an aura of death but hiding her edges, was clearly someone who had emerged from the depths of hell. Yet she lived her life in the sun, playing with people effortlessly, her mere silence had the power to send someone to their doom.
Utterly terrifying.
"Kill him."
Steadying her emotions, the woman did not conceal her intentions.
They were not a terrorist organization, there was no rule that suggested "death upon mission failure", therefore, she could use all means to preserve her own life.
Sometimes, revealing the entire mission might not necessarily be a bad move.
