Flossie Wright probably understood what was happening to some extent.
"Let’s go inside first."
Sandy Cruz’s voice was quite cold.
Flossie Wright bent over, picked up the two fish, and threw them to him.
Soon, Sandy Cruz and Mariana Buck entered the cave, one after the other.
Flossie Wright took a stick and shaved it a few times with a Dagger, creating some shavings that were easy to ignite.
She walked into the cave.
The space inside was large, big enough to accommodate ten people without a problem.
However, there was a cold breeze pouring in through the entrance.
This was Flossie Wright’s first time inside, and she immediately spotted two rocks placed in there.
Sandy Cruz and Mariana Buck were occupying them.
Her eyebrows moved slightly.
She tossed the shavings and some logs over, then Flossie Wright turned and left the cave.
As the third wheel, her presence was quite strong, literally dazzling.
So, Flossie Wright took advantage of the twilight before it had completely faded and decided to take a stroll outside, also hoping to find some game to bring back.
She didn’t particularly like the fish bones that would stick in her throat.
By association, she didn’t care much for fish either.
Yet, after only a few steps, she heard a questioning voice—
"Where are you going?"
Her footsteps halted, Flossie Wright turned her head.
At a glance, she saw Sandy Cruz standing at the mouth of the cave.
Flossie Wright couldn’t help but smile. "I’m giving you some space."
"We don’t need it."
Sandy Cruz’s face darkened slightly.
After thinking it over, Flossie Wright said, "I’m going to get some food."
"We have food here."
Sandy Cruz quickly took over the conversation.
"I’ll get something else."
Flossie Wright casually waved her hand.
"Together," Sandy Cruz said, walking over directly.
"Are you stupid?"
Turning around, Flossie Wright frowned at him.
Sandy Cruz’s frown was even deeper.
He was just worried about Flossie Wright encountering danger outside.
After all, in his view, Mariana Buck knew how to protect herself better than Flossie Wright did, because Mariana wasn’t as impulsive as she was, not likely to provoke dangerous creatures on a whim.
"Forget it," Flossie Wright shrugged. "If I’m not back in half an hour, come find me."
Sandy Cruz was speechless.
And before he could say anything more, Flossie Wright had already turned and left.
She clutched the Dagger tightly in her hand.
His eyes flashing, Sandy Cruz’s tight frown slowly relaxed, but as he watched her retreating figure, his expression was still grave.
He always felt—
Flossie Wright was more worrying.
A gentle voice came from behind.
Turning around, Sandy Cruz saw Mariana Buck.
"Let’s go back," Mariana Buck said, her eyes grave and her voice heavy, "this place isn’t for you."
After a moment of silence, Sandy Cruz slid his hands into his pockets. "I think it’s quite suitable."
Mariana Buck frowned.
Raising his eyebrows, Sandy Cruz interrupted her. "In your eyes, am I only suitable for clerical work?"
In the previous Forces, Sandy Cruz was not in a clerical position, yet with his education, he could easily have taken a clerical job and might have been promoted within a few years.
However, he chose to be a platoon leader and always participated in training, just like everyone else.
Since his enlistment, Mariana Buck had always encouraged him to take a clerical position, telling him that in the Combat Forces, he’d just be wasting his time.
Pursing her lips, Mariana Buck’s expression softened somewhat as she said gravely, "Your prospects would be better."
"This is my life," Sandy Cruz said with a slight pause, his expression resolute, "and I choose how to live it."
