Mission One:
You’re all in the city, right? Before nine tomorrow, raise a thousand dollars and meet at Dovert Amusement Park.
A terse message with minimal information.
It only mentioned the mission’s goal, without revealing the contact person, nor specifying how they should meet.
That left them quite baffled.
Flossie Wright glanced at it and put down her phone.
Continued drinking her coffee.
Meanwhile, Jocelyn Carrington, standing outside, had just finished reading the same message. She wanted to see Flossie’s reaction, but to her chagrin, Flossie was as relaxed as ever.
Annoyed without reason, Jocelyn’s eyes flashed with anger. She tightened her grip on her phone and headed towards the coffee house entrance.
She walked in, ignored the watchful waiter, and sat down in front of Flossie.
The phone was slammed vigorously on the table, making a loud noise.
Those around them glanced over out of curiosity, quickly retreated their gazes as if nothing had happened.
"What are you planning to do next?"
When asking, Jocelyn tried to stay calm.
this wasn’t the first time that Jocelyn had tasted the frustration caused by Flossie’s nonchalant attitude.
This woman, she knew, only responded to honey and not to vinegar.
"Well," Flossie took a sip of her coffee and raised an eyebrow, "when did I agree to work with you?"
Jocelyn choked.
She took a deep breath and decided not to argue, asked, "So how do you plan on making the money?"
"Not planning to."
Flossie shrugged off the question.
"You....." Jocelyn clenched her teeth, lowered her voice and angrily asked, "Aren’t you afraid of being eliminated?"
Looking at her, Flossie burst into laughter, "What’s your rush? Why do you care so much about my affairs?"
The flippant tone and cavalier attitude made Jocelyn even more pissed off.
It was the same kind of insensitive attitude that Flossie showed each time before they had a task, as if she didn’t care about anything, yet she always managed to complete the tasks easily.
Flossie had an amused smile in her eyes.
She stood up.
"Where are you going?"
Seeing her getting up, Jocelyn’s voice slightly dropped.
"Amusement Park."
A brief answer.
Having said that, she went to pay the bill and left.
Jocelyn was stunned at first, quickly recovered and quickly stood up to stop Flossie from leaving.
"Where did you get the money?"
Her voice slightly trembling, Jocelyn stared at Flossie incredulously.
If Flossie was able to go to the amusement park, it meant she had gathered enough money but they had only been in the city for a few hours, where did Flossie get the money from?
The spring breeze was a little cold.
On the street, the sun was shining, and the cool breeze brushed past the bustling crowd.
Flossie stopped, crossed her arms, and her lips curved up into a slight smile.
As though she was laughing, yet not.
The soft sunlight poured down upon her; her black leather coat was so clean and brilliant.
"Do I need to report to you?" Flossie raised an eyebrow and asked.
"Flossie Wright!"
Yelling out in resentment.
"Calm down," Flossie’s voice slowed down, her smile was light, "Have you ever made any money?"
Jocelyn frowned but didn’t answer.
She had been spoilt since childhood, money always came to her easily -- whether it was during high school or even university, she never thought about making money herself.
"I’ll teach you a trick." Flossie pointed to a beggar across the street, "He probably makes about fifty in half an hour. Stay for over ten hours and you should have roughly a thousand."
