These two female soldiers had caused enough trouble. He had never planned on keeping them around in the first place.
"Alright, everyone disperse," Rowdy Brightwill tried to mediate the situation, clapping his hands and standing beside Winsley Scott, "The greenhorns are off to take the examination, everyone else should continue with what you were doing. Don’t waste more time standing here. Some lessons must still be learned."
It was clear; Rowdy chose to stand with Winsley. Yet, if he really took sides, he would be on Flossie Wright’s side.
Even when he once detested Flossie that much, he never dared to curse her, let alone let her suffer injustice. Where did these two new recruits come from? On what grounds could they make sarcastic remarks about and slander her?
You reap what you sow, they must bear the consequences of their actions.
If they hadn’t picked a quarrel and plotted against Janice Wood, would they be in this situation now?
He wouldn’t have been so ruthless if things hadn’t escalated to this point.

Soldiers trained by Glenn Hutchinson, like himself, never pried into others’ affairs. After all, it was the Marine Corps’ business, their intervention would be useless. They, who had perfect hearing and vision, as well as their wits about them, knew full well the cause and effect of this matter. They could tell right from wrong, and knew which party they should stand with.
As for the other Frogmen, now that Winsley Scott and Rowdy Brightwill had spoken up, they sided with Flossie and Janice out of justice and brotherhood. New recruits like Clara Birch and Agnes Parker, no matter how capable, would never become Frogmen. They didn’t hold any particular fondness for them. Helping them was an act of kindness, not helping them was also within reason.
So, considering all things, the spectators gradually dispersed.
Even those who thought it was too harsh were dragged away by their own comrades, thus leaving no room for further discussion.
A few more hesitations show up on Janice’s face. She was a soft-hearted person. Seeing this scene of partiality towards her, she didn’t know what to do for a while.
"Stop!" Before Janice could speak her mind, Becca Reyes interrupted her. Looking at Janice, all dirty and likely injured in several places, she raised her eyebrows, "Don’t worry about those insignificant people. Let Winsley take you to the clinic."
Becca had been trying to get Janice and Winsley together. After all, they seemed to be a perfect match in her eyes. Seeing Winsley’s determination to protect Janice, she couldn’t help but mentally praise him. Now that she had the chance to play matchmaker, she wouldn’t pass it up.
"Yes, I’ll take you there!"
Hearing Becca’s suggestion, Winsley immediately ran over. His deep black eyes were filled with concern and worry. His strong and resolute demeanor had evaporated, replaced by gentleness when he spoke to Janice. His eyes softened as he looked at her.
Rowdy touched his nose and gave Nathan Foster an eye-roll with a grin, implying a commendation for his smart move this time.
As for Nathan, he felt a bit awkward. He deliberately avoided Rowdy’s smirk and looked at Winsley and Janice instead.
All he knew was that Rowdy was interested in Flossie, but he had no idea how Winsley ended up being attracted to Janice. Although they’re new recruits and it’s taboo for them to date, things would eventually develop in that direction anyway. Nathan chose to turn a blind eye, acting as if he was oblivious to anything.
"No, that’s not necessary." As Winsley drew near, Janice immediately lowered her gaze and avoided it. Her voice unintentionally became softer and the situation became awkward, "I’m fine, I’ll go to the clinic after the exam."
