She wanted to save many, many people, those who could be called the people.
"A decade to hone a sword, we can’t ’defend our homes and the nation’ right now because we’re not qualified yet."
Seeing her disappointed expression, Stuart Weston couldn’t wait to say something.
After a few words, the rest stopped at Becca Reyes’s fading eyes.
He was not yet qualified to speak some truths.
He and her were the same, having just joined the military not long ago, without much experience.
He suddenly realized that he couldn’t persuade her.
"I’ll go to the cooking class for a bit."
Forcing a smile, Becca Reyes waved her hand and turned towards the cooking class.
He opened his mouth, wanting to call after her, but ultimately didn’t shout out.
He couldn’t do it.
Even if he did call her back, what could he tell her?
He had no grand principles to share, he just simply wanted to join the army, harboring the grand aspiration of defending the home and nation, hoping to do something for this country.
But he couldn’t articulate his reasons.
He felt an uncommon sense of defeat.

After spending half an hour at the cooking class, Becca Reyes returned with a particularly shocking piece of news.
The previously melancholic thoughts vanished completely upon learning this news.
Carrying two boxes of food, Becca Reyes entered the door and walked straight to Flossie Wright’s bed.
Just as she approached the bed, she caught sight of two figures on it.
Subconsciously, her gaze swept around the room, and seeing no one else in the other beds, Becca Reyes looked back at that bed with the feeling that she was jinxed.
However, before she could get a good look, she heard a cold voice—
"If you have something to say, say it."
Becca Reyes breathed a sigh of relief.
It was Flossie’s voice, confirmed she hadn’t walked into the wrong room.
Curiosity stirring, Becca Reyes took a closer look at the bed and then realized that lying next to Flossie was Belinda Nichols.
Belinda leaned against the wall, sleeping on her side, seemingly in a deep slumber.
Flossie slept on the outside, lying on her back, eyes open, dark and bright, looking completely sleepless.
"Food," she lifted the two boxes, paused, and then added with a smile, "A special bento from Squad Leader Lin, guaranteed to be delicious."
Flossie sat up.
She and Belinda used two blankets, and when she got up, she moved the blanket, but not enough to disturb Belinda.
"What’s happening," Becca Reyes leaned closer to ask mysteriously, "she’s sleeping with you again?"
"Don’t know."
Responding indifferently, Flossie pulled a bag over from her side.
Then, she walked straight to the desk and turned on one of the lamps.
"Don’t know?"
Becca Reyes followed her and put the plastic bag on the desk.
Flossie responded casually, then opened the lunchbox, but noticing the gaze that was fixed on her, her eyebrows involuntarily twitched.
"Really don’t know."
She looked up, explaining with a sense of helplessness.
She had woken up in the middle of the night to find Belinda climbing onto her bed, bringing her own blanket, not saying anything, and just starting to sleep.
She was puzzled by this too.
"Alright," nodding, Becca Reyes didn’t proceed with her inquiry, instead she said directly, "I just heard some news at the cooking class."
Flossie broke apart the chopsticks.
"Err," Becca paused, sighed softly, bent down, and whispered in her ear, "Neal Thompson said it, Mia Lawson’s two fingers are broken, and now she’s pinning all the blame on you."
