She was powerful, very much so.
Both Clara and Agnes unintentionally swallowed hard. In intense fear, they remained silent, watching Flossie, waiting for her next words.
"Secure your ropes," Flossie casually glanced at the steep slope next to them, her tone icy. "One round trip, whoever wins gets to leave first."
She paused before she added nonchalantly, "You can use force during the process."
Flossie didn’t explicitly explain what she wanted, but just by watching her actions, they could more or less understand her intentions.
They had to rappel down this steep slope. Whoever was slower would be allowed to stay in the forces and leave first.
All soldiers strive to be the best. No one wants to be left behind. Under such circumstances, any opportunity was worth taking, and it seemed a sure thing to be able to stay. Therefore, both of them were reluctant to leave the Marine Corps.
But, if Flossie, whom they had angered, stays in the forces, there’s no longer any point for them to continue here.
Clara lowered her head slightly, gritting her teeth. After some hesitation, she asked Flossie with a glimmer of hope, "What if we both choose to leave?"
If Flossie wanted to force them to leave, they might as well just go together, so as not to be coerced by her. They could imagine that whoever stayed behind would have a hard time in the future.
That’s what she thought.
But, she was only half right.
Flossie lightly lifted her eyebrows, a charming smile emerged from the corners of her mouth, she gently asked, "Do you think you have a choice?"
Seeing her grin, Clara and Agnes felt a chill run down their spines for no reason.
At the same time, they suddenly realized something.
Given Flossie’s means, there were certainly many ways to get them to leave. But since she chose to only get rid of one of them, it meant their existence was negligible to her. They were no more significant than the air they occupied, and if it hadn’t been for Janice, she wouldn’t have cared about their existence.
So, Flossie’s intention was to provoke a conflict between them.
Neither wanted to lose or be detained by Flossie, so they were bound to make a choice during the upcoming climb, and then one of them would initiate an attack first...
Realizing this, Clara felt a surge of cold engulf her, the chill seemed to ease her physical pain quite a bit.
Just moments ago, Agnes, whom she had wholeheartedly protected, had abandoned her without a shred of hesitation in order to escape.
She had always thought that Agnes was just a bit slow and dimwitted, having done so many things together, she believed Agnes would be on her side. So, she never’d imagined Agnes to be this selfish, especially in a moment of crisis...
Her knuckles, clutching the rope, were slightly pale, Clara made up her mind resolutely.
If Agnes could simply abandon her, then she certainly wouldn’t be merciful either!
With a clap of her hands, Flossie somehow produced another climbing rope, threw it nonchalantly to Agnes, who was still half lying on the ground. It took Agnes a while to react. She tentatively picked up the rope with a hesitant look on her face. She wanted to seek Clara’s opinion, but to her great surprise, Clara had already turned around and was now securing her rope to a nearby tree with an indifferent look on her face.
Feeling a lump in her throat, Agnes watched Clara with a surging mix of emotions. She could guess that due to her previous actions, Clara had lost all trust in her, leaving no room for any compromise during the upcoming climb.
She had to make the first move!
Making this decision, Agnes slowly followed Clara to the side of the tree to fasten her rope.
Little did she know, her expressions didn’t escape the watchful eyes of Flossie and Becca.
Pausing for a moment, Flossie and Becca’s eyes met in the air, they both shrugged in unison, a mutual understanding passed between them without words.
Meanwhile——
In the thick forest, among the towering peaks...
A figure hid in the trees, positioned perfectly to observe everything. Dark, mysterious eyes took in the entire scene clearly.
A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. The man lightly touched his earpiece and spoke with a calm, steady voice that echoed with the evening breeze, "Delay the hunt."
