After all, isn’t there a saying about "a dagger hidden behind a smile"?
They were just joking around and then she shot them... she’s really not human!
At the same time, in the cockpit up ahead—
Flossie Wright, who just shot the pilot and caused him to smoke up, moved him over to the co-pilot’s seat the moment the helicopter wobbled. As the dazed pilot watched, she calmly operated the controls. She seemed so at ease piloting the helicopter. By the time the pilot came to, the helicopter was no longer shaking and was flying smoothly towards the coast.
"Are you... are you from the Air Force?"
The pilot stuttered, asking Flossie after ascertaining that she was in army attire. He was curious.
He guessed that she must belong to the Forces, despite being dressed in blue. However, as an airman, she shouldn’t be in the jungle. And she had an officer with her... No, wait. How come an officer only has two people with him?
The pilot wasn’t as impulsive as the other two, but his curiosity almost drove him mad. His mind was muddled, as if filled with paste. He was stumped, unable to fathom the origin of things.
Flossie calmly piloted the helicopter, answering the pilot curtly and clearly.
However, when the pilot heard her voice and barely recognized that she was a woman... he was stunned again, and his eyes widened almost popping out of his sockets.
My goodness, not only can she fly a helicopter, she is also... a woman?!
The poor pilot looked absolutely incapable of processing this.
"So, what is your identity?"
He asked tentatively and carefully. Swallowing, the pilot asked with trepidation.
Flossie glanced at him from the corner of her eye. "Navy."
Perhaps it was due to excessive shock; the pilot quickly regained his composure. However, his gaze was fixated on Flossie the entire time.
Crashing on land, able to pilot a helicopter, yet from the Navy, and more importantly a woman... This kind of godlike existence completely subdued the pilot, who had only just joined the Air Force. His gaze couldn’t conceal his intense admiration for her.
"Where are you heading to next, the coast?"
"Our leaders will be paying attention to the situation regarding this Mi-17, so there’s a good chance your diversion will be detected."
"And, can everybody in the Navy fly a plane?"
Throughout journey, the young pilot sat obediently in the co-pilot seat but kept on talking non-stop, asking Flossie countless questions enthusiastically regardless of whether she responded or not.
Flossie had this inexplicable charm about her. Some people disliked her cold and aloof demeanor, and her sharp tongue and hot temper often put people on edge, giving off an impression of nonchalance. But in the eyes of others, Flossie was a unique figure. Her commanding aura was befitting of a strong person, causing others to unconsciously believe that her reticence and aloofness were well warranted. Her formidable abilities incite a surge of excitement within them, leading them to believe that her standoffish behavior was the normal reaction.
Strong people always had peculiar characteristics, didn’t they?
In reality, Flossie had every right to be called a "strong person". Her actions may not be as impressive as many others’, but her experience and exposure were more than enough to leave those soldiers who have never been in real combat far behind.
Whether it was flying helicopters or planes, she really had studied and learned.
Over the years, she has learned a hodgepodge of things, mostly out of interest, but also for survival.
She needed to master many survival skills, as there had been a period when she was under the constant threat of death, pushing her to tap into her potential potential. She would be up and about for almost the entire day, sometimes only able to sleep two hours a day.
This was even more brutal than life in the Forces.
At least in the Forces, she didn’t have to worry about her life when she was sleeping.
"Are we here?"
Just when the pilot’s mouth dried out from talking, Flossie finally steered the helicopter to the coast and landed it on a rather secluded beach.
Flossie responded to the pilot, a rarity as such, and concentrated on landing the helicopter until it was safely on the ground.
"Are you leaving now?"
Seeing Flossie open the door and walk down, the pilot hurried after her. Wearing a pitiful face of reluctance, he sidled up to Flossie.
But just as he finished his sentence, he felt an icy gaze from behind like a thousand arrows piercing his heart, giving him goosebumps all over.
