Not a word of conversation.
Soon, Sandy Cruz came over with a notebook.
The first floor was convenient; Sandy Cruz walked straight here, without even disturbing the neighboring dormitory.
The door was ajar, he paused briefly, glanced inside, then lifted his distinctively jointed fingers and knocked on the door.
Knock, knock, knock.
The sound, neither light nor heavy, surprisingly attracted the attention of all four people inside.
Belinda Nichols was seated on her bed, poring over her notebook, struggling to understand some of the data-related content.
Flossie Wright was applying safflower oil.
Jessie Grain was soaking her feet.
Mariana Buck was sorting through a wardrobe, organizing clothes.
Upon hearing the noise, the four turned their gaze towards the door.
Quickly, Belinda Nichols, uninterested, lowered her head again, Flossie Wright set down the safflower oil, Mariana Buck’s brows furrowed, she turned her head and continued to arrange the clothes, but her fingers, hidden in the wardrobe, were trembling slightly.
Jessie Grain tilted her head, somewhat surprised, and asked softly, "What’s the matter?"
After giving her a fleeting look, Sandy Cruz quickly withdrew his gaze, showing no intention to respond.
Jessie Grain tilted her head again, feeling a bit embarrassed, but didn’t take it too much to heart.
Meanwhile, Mariana Buck’s clothing-sorting hands paused for a moment, her fingers unconsciously gripped the fabric tighter, and in her slightly downcast eyes, a touch of annoyance lingered.
Quickly, she heard the soft footsteps, which then stopped at the doorway.
Unable to curb her curiosity, Mariana Buck took a deep breath and listened attentively.
"Thank you."
It was Flossie Wright’s isolated voice.
Withdrawing his hand, Sandy Cruz stood there nonchalantly and said indifferently, "Inspection."
Raising an eyebrow, Flossie Wright looked down at the notebook and then lifted her fingers, flipped through the first few pages, catching sight of the neat notes, and the corners of her lips rose in a faint smile.
She had to admit that Sandy Cruz, so young to have earned the military rank of Second Lieutenant, had done so on his own merits.
In just a few words, he could summarize a topic clearly and concisely, without any dawdling.
He had a solid foundation.
Especially, his handwriting was beautiful.
Hearing the sound of flipping pages and sensing the unusual silence in the dormitory, Mariana Buck finally couldn’t resist turning her body slightly and lifting her eyes to scan the doorway.
From her angle, she could see Sandy Cruz’s silhouette, handsome and tall, carrying himself with a distinct swagger. His posture was casual and easy, lacking some of the strictness typically seen in soldiers.
He looked down slightly, his gaze settling on Flossie Wright, focused and attentive.
For no apparent reason, Mariana Buck frowned, feeling a mild irritation.
After a brief overview, Flossie Wright raised her eyebrows and shrugged at him.
After that, Sandy Cruz said nonchalantly and turned to leave.
Outside the door—
Becca Reyes and Jocelyn Carrington, holding basins filled with clothes, looked at each other.
Noticing Flossie Wright enter the dorm, Becca Reyes quickly came in.
Flossie Wright stopped, turned her head, and glanced at her sideways.
"What’s up?" she asked in a neutral tone.
Standing in the middle of the doorway, Becca Reyes frowned, thought for a moment, then asked with a smile, "Did he lend that to you, or did he give it to you?"
Flossie Wright headed to her own bed.
Becca Reyes was surprised and quickly sped up to catch up with Flossie Wright, asking in detail, "Did he copy it all out just for you?"
She responded indifferently.
Meanwhile, Mariana Buck, overhearing their conversation, lowered her eyelids, her eyes dimming slightly.
