"Beep—beep—beep—"
Drake Easton blew his whistle several times in succession.
Still no use.
With a slight shift of his gaze, Rowdy Brightwill swept his eyes over the lined-up Flossie Wright.
So exhausted for so long, these students were mostly slumped and wilted, like cabbages that had sat for days.
A glance revealed only a few standing properly.
Among them, Flossie Wright was particularly conspicuous.
Erect as a bamboo, her bearing was calm and her demeanor detached.
She was particularly eye-catching.
Narrowing his eyes, Rowdy Brightwill’s lips curled into a hint of a smile as he quickly walked over.
Drake was delivering a lecture.
His voice was deep and stern, yet carried a substantial quality that made the students, who had felt the desolation for several days, find it especially warm and familiar.
"What’s up?"
Pulled back a few steps by Rowdy Brightwill, Nathan Foster looked at him in puzzlement.
Rowdy Brightwill gestured for him to listen closely and whispered something into his ear.
Nathan Foster looked at him in surprise, full of disbelief.
Comrade Rowdy’s heart took a hit.
Was he really that untrustworthy?!
"Would I lie about this kind of thing?" Comrade Rowdy said with some dissatisfaction, glaring at him with his eyes.
"That’s true."
Nodding his head, Nathan Foster seemed thoughtful.
Soon, he stopped doubting and went straight to Drake Easton, whispering a few words into his ear.
Drake Easton’s brows twitched slightly, but he didn’t react too much.
Changing training plans was a common occurrence under Austin Shepherd’s command.
As his gaze swept over them, Drake Easton abandoned the mental assault and spoke in a serious and low voice, "I have some good news."
His words paused.
No one responded.
Everyone’s eyes were open, but their gazes were unfocused, zoning out.
Drake Easton frowned, his voice sinking slightly as he articulated each word, "We’re resting tomorrow."
Silence again.
Austin Shepherd and Nathan Foster exchanged glances.
Had this bunch become fools?!
But then—
The next moment, the atmosphere shifted suddenly, and exclamations and screams erupted from the formation.
"Fantastic! This is great!"
"Instructor Drake, you’re not joking with us, are you?"
"Awooo, I can finally sleep in!"
The previous fatigue vanished without a trace, replaced by indescribable joy and cheers.
Drake Easton’s face darkened slightly.
But in the end, he held back and let them be.
In fact, they were indeed quite tired, and giving them a day off was like offering a reward.
After a while, he blew the whistle again.
The crowd quickly quieted down.
Only a few remained listless.
With a softened expression, Drake Easton didn’t waste any more words and got straight to the point, "Dismissed!"
Immediately, a wave of excitement ensued, and everyone scattered like birds.
"Is there food in the cafeteria now?"
"Go grab a couple of Steamed Buns, then hit the sack."
"Let’s go, let’s go, stock up enough provisions. I won’t get up until tomorrow night!"
"Be careful, guys. Don’t overdo it and end up not being able to get up the day after tomorrow."
A group moved en masse, laughing and chatting on their way to the cafeteria.
Only those who had been eliminated watched their excitement and joy, feeling a deep sense of regret for themselves.
"Where’s Jocelyn Carrington?"
Approaching Flossie and Belinda Nichols, Becca Reyes looked around and couldn’t help asking.
"She went back to the dormitory."
Supporting Belinda Nichols, Flossie casually answered her.
"Isn’t she having dinner?" Becca Reyes frowned.
Her fever had subsided, and after a nap, her strength had fully returned, and she even felt better than Flossie.
She now had the energy to worry about someone else.
Last night, Jocelyn Carrington told her the whole story about her and Cherry Hamilton.
Although Becca was confused at the time, it wasn’t until she spent a few hours in the car that she realized if it hadn’t been for her, Jocelyn Carrington might not have challenged Cherry Hamilton to the competition.
In the end, Jocelyn Carrington’s departure seemed to be partly her own fault.
"Probably too busy."
Flossie’s brow lifted slightly.
Jocelyn Carrington had to leave at eight that evening, so she had to pack her things now.
Or perhaps...
She needed a moment to reminisce.
"Then I’ll head to the dorm first. Pick up a couple of Steamed Buns for me." Becca Reyes waved her hand and hurried in the direction of the dormitory building.
"Let’s go."
Flossie looked to Belinda Nichols at her side.
Belinda Nichols still looked detached, but at the sound of Flossie’s voice, she glanced at her faintly.
After a night of treatment, the toxins in her body had all been cleared, but she still felt too weak to exert any force, especially after the jostling in the car for several hours, which made her limbs feel completely foreign.
No matter how strong willed she was, she needed someone’s help.
Before the two could take a few steps, Rowdy Brightwill, who had just finished a conversation with Drake Easton, quickly came over.
"Perfect," Flossie raised her eyebrows, looking at the other side of Belinda Nichols, and immediately commanded, "Help me support her."
Rowdy Brightwill was taken aback for a moment.
But, glancing at Belinda Nichols and noticing her pale face, he immediately understood and, without a word, took hold of her other hand.
Belinda Nichols furrowed her brows and managed to avoid Rowdy Brightwill’s gaze.
For some reason, her ears reddened.
