"You’re up?"
Flossie Wright poked her head out from under the covers and glanced up to see Glenn Hutchinson sitting up.
Glenn Hutchinson gave her a quick look, "You can sleep a little longer."
Upon hearing this, Flossie’s brow twitched slightly, and she immediately tossed aside the covers and sat up in bed.
Glenn Hutchinson looked at her, bemused.
After a moment, as if realizing something, Glenn asked with a certain helplessness, "Aren’t you tired?"
"Not as tired as you are." Flossie gave him a sidelong glance.
Glenn’s face darkened.
This girl slept for less than two hours and yet acts so lively, telling him she’s not tired. Is it really him who’s lacking?
So, he raised his hand, stopping Flossie from putting on clothes, and wrapped his arm around her shoulders, pulling them both back down onto the bed.
"Stay with me for a bit longer." He held her tightly, and Glenn’s voice, though hoarse, brimmed with gentleness.
"Don’t you have things to do?" Flossie asked, her hand resting on his shoulder, keeping a safe distance.
"Nothing," Glenn replied, his tone particularly earnest.
"The morning drill..." Flossie’s voice trailed off with implied meaning.
"It has nothing to do with me."
Glenn Hutchinson forcefully dismissed it, his attitude quite firm.
"Glenn Hutchinson..." Flossie wanted to say something.
Frowning, Glenn interrupted her, "Use another name."
Thinking for a moment, Flossie acquiesced, "Comrade Hutchinson..."
"Not acceptable."
"Captain Hutchinson?" Flossie knitted her brows, a bit impatient.
"Change it."
"Hutchinson."
Glenn leaned in slightly, pressing closer to her ear, his chin resting on her shoulder, and deliberately said, "Call me Glenn."
"Glenn..." Flossie drew out the sound, still finding it awkward, and added, "Uncle."
The slight improvement in Glenn Hutchinson’s expression vanished as he twitched at the corner of his mouth upon hearing her last word, powerless against her antics.
"Let’s talk business," Flossie couldn’t care less about his expression, speaking directly, "I’ll try to think of you first before I act. However, me doing my own thing doesn’t mean you’re not in my heart. In other words, I haven’t been with any other man besides you, and you don’t need to worry about one appearing in the future. I’m too lazy to meld with someone else, so... Comrade Hutchinson, can you calm down and not stir trouble with Perry Reed in the future?"
Flossie spoke with rare seriousness.
Despite all the fuss last night, she had forgotten to mention this.
"You’re making sense." Glenn nodded slightly, acknowledging her point, but then switched gears, "But I can’t just stand by and do nothing."
"I’m confident in what I do." Flossie emphasized firmly.
Glenn took her hand, his expression mild, but his gaze extremely earnest, "But what you’re facing involves real bullets. You may avoid every dangerous place, but there’s a word called ’what if.’"
"..." Flossie was momentarily speechless.
Her eyes flickering, Glenn continued, "You should know, there’s no such thing as absolute certainty."
"So?" Flossie asked lightly.

She knew, of course, that any meticulous plan could have flaws. Real combat is unpredictably perilous, unlike drills, with sudden situations that can leave you with nothing, caught off guard.
But it was impossible for her to report every single thing to Glenn.
Though bound together with Glenn, she also had her freedom, and Glenn certainly couldn’t dictate all her thoughts.
Glenn pressed his lips to hers and murmured softly, "When you’re facing danger, think of me more."
