Flynn Reid, who was sitting in the back with Flossie Wright, cautiously leaned closer to her.
His eyes, like black obsidian, were filled with concern.
Turning her head, Flossie gave him a glance.
"You don’t need to worry, they’re quite nice people." Flynn’s eyes sparkled brightly, but his words carried a hint of reassurance.
"Okay." Flossie responded softly.
Knowing Flynn Reid wanted to comfort her, Flossie thought for a moment and added, "I’m fine."
Flynn watched her for a while, seeing her genuinely composed, then returned his gaze with skepticism.
Flossie usually had met different kinds of people. It was just her first time dealing with relatives she needed to impress. She couldn’t be forceful or careless; this mission was indeed challenging for her, but there was no need to worry.
Of course, she couldn’t maintain a good mood.
Glenn Hutchinson drove leisurely, not worried about her at all.
The journey was somewhat tedious, but after Flossie took a nap, the time passed quickly.
Upon waking up, Glenn had already driven to the gates of the Hutchinson family.
Flynn was enthusiastic; as soon as he got out of the car, he dashed to the door, rang the doorbell quickly, and shortly afterward, the elder couple of the Hutchinson family came out to welcome them.
Even though the Hutchinson family had a big family and business, their customs weren’t as strict as the Wright family’s. The elderly coming to greet their son, daughter-in-law, and grandson clearly wasn’t something they typically did, yet when they stood at the door greeting them, everything seemed perfectly natural.
This was Flossie’s first time meeting Hutchinson’s father.
She heard he was called Mark Hutchinson.
After all, they were father and son. Glenn and Mark indeed resembled each other in some ways; when first seen, aside from the aura, there was only sternness and indifference. But when faced with Kirana Williams, the initial Ice Mountain image completely melted, and his expressions instantly softened.
Just like Glenn.
Flossie had met Kirana Williams, the former aunt, now the mother-in-law. She was just like remembered—graceful and kind-hearted, but with hints of mischief in her eyes, clearly not someone who’d settle down easily.
"Daughter-in-law," Kirana came over and grabbed Flossie’s wrists, examining her closely, and after a while, she genuinely marveled, "A bit more handsome than before."
One might think her son was into men...
Flossie’s face darkened slightly, forcing out these two words.
"Eh?" Kirana raised her eyes, gazing at Flossie’s face, annoyed, "Say mom!"
"..." Flossie remained silent.
Kirana looked persistently at Flossie, as if Flossie wouldn’t enter the door if she refused to change her address.
Their atmosphere instantly stiffened.
"What’s going on?"
Glenn stopped the car and walked over, seeing his mom and wife stuck there. He couldn’t help but ask his dad, who was watching amusingly nearby.
Mark looked at him, then meaningfully patted his shoulder.
"Indeed quite handsome."
Unexpectedly commenting, Mark shook his head and then walked inside.
Flynn, with his little legs, quickly followed Mark inside.
Flynn wasn’t worried at all about his grandmother and new mom quarreling; he felt no concern about their temporary tense atmosphere.
Glenn looked at the two, then at the snowflakes falling from the sky, and after a moment, he simply chose not to get involved, swaggering inside.
Leaving his mom and wife, standing in the snowy field, staring at each other.
At this point, Flossie couldn’t hold on anymore; her brow twitched slightly, and she had to yield and call out softly, "Mom."
"Good girl." Kirana instantly changed her expression; a kind smile appeared on her face. As she held Flossie, she slipped a red envelope into Flossie’s hand. "Here, a welcoming gift."
The red envelope didn’t contain money but held a card.
As soon as Flossie touched it, she realized and paused slightly.
"It’s cold, let’s go inside."
Without waiting for Flossie to speak, Kirana guided her into the house, so Flossie didn’t say anything else, and accepted the welcoming gift as if nothing happened.
"Dad, brother, come help quickly—"
Just as they reached the kitchen, they heard a shout from inside, accompanied by the clattering of pots and pans.
