The group was reminded and snapped back to reality immediately.
There’s an assembly in the morning!
It’s supervised by Captain Bard himself, no tardiness allowed!
Therefore, they didn’t have time to continue the gossip. They quickly sat down and wolfed down their breakfasts.
Rowdy Brightwill looked somewhat dumbfounded.
He silently removed his hand from Derek Moore’s shoulder, gave his shoulder a pat, pointed outside indicating he was about to leave. Upon Derek Moore’s nod, Rowdy Brightwill finally waved at Flossie Wright and walked towards the playground.
On leaving the field, seeing his hurry-scurrying eating comrades, a smirk crossed Rowdy Brightwill’s face.
Today feels, highly relaxing.
Austin Shepherd glanced at the group of people, swinging his whistle in his hand, preparing to call for the new recruits’ formation.
After so much commotion, his ears finally found peace. Only then, Derek Moore turned to look at Flossie Wright again.
"I need to talk to you."
He said it very seriously, very sincerely.
It doesn’t seem like it has any other implications.
Flossie’s gaze flickered, a hint of hesitation flashed past, she found this man increasingly familiar.
Nodding at him, Flossie didn’t question.
This man didn’t seem like the type to do trivial things.
Probably, he genuinely needs her for something.
Looking at her, Derek Moore said in a serious manner, "The captain asked me to deliver something to you."
Flossie’s eyes narrowed, "Glenn Hutchinson?"
Without hesitation, Derek Moore nodded affirmatively.
She was slightly taken aback; then, her familiar impression of the man before her eyes clicked into place.
Three years ago....
Right, she had met him.
She had met many of Glenn’s subordinates when she first met Glenn Hutchinson. There were only a few people who she could remember, as this man was not particularly active, making her impression of him rather faint.
"What is it?"
Without any formalities, Flossie promptly asked.
Although there was some unpleasantness when Glenn Hutchinson left... she never considered him an enemy.
"Follow me."
Nodding at her, Derek Moore turned around without another word and walked towards the exit of the dining hall.
Flossie paused for a moment in place.
Then, under the curious gaze of many, she followed Derek Moore out.
When they passed the playground, Austin Shepherd and Nathan Foster were blowing whistles and gathering recruits. Amidst the hurried footsteps, many recruits cast weird glances at her, all of which Flossie ignored.
Since he had been here before, Derek Moore was naturally familiar with the area. He adeptly led Flossie through a series of turns before finally entering the Military District’s Guesthouse where he was temporarily staying.
After all, he was not from the Marine Corps, even if he wanted to return to his old forces, he couldn’t reside in there freely and had to stay at the guesthouse according to regulations.
As he led her into a clean and tidy room, Flossie immediately noticed the neatly folded quilt on the bed and her lips curled up slightly.
"These are all yours," Derek Moore said out of nowhere. He fetched a large hemp bag and placed it right in front of Flossie.
The moment the bag hit the floor, Flossie felt as if the floor had moved a bit, but she wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination.
