In her past life, she had interacted with all kinds of people - the cruel, the deranged, the weak, the benevolent... all types, and she had to manage various kinds of relationships with them, be they hostile, exploitative, collaborative, or friendly. She didn’t have to specifically study how to deal with people, because life taught her that. She was good at exploiting people’s weaknesses after all.
The ones who needed to be won over were moved by her sincerity and capability, whereas the potential enemies were increasingly resentful of her arrogance and shamelessness.
Consequently, the friendlier ones helped her more and more, and the hostile ones hated her more and more.
But deep within she held true to the words "stubborn", doing whatever she wanted to do and offending those she disliked, regardless of their usefulness. And in these forces, she didn’t need much, and she couldn’t care less about what others thought of her. If someone could be befriended, she would. If someone got offended, then so be it.
She didn’t need to be all things to all people, so she was happy to just live as freely as she wanted to.
"You!" Jocelyn Carrington was enraged to the point of wanting to strangle her, "No wonder everyone can’t stand you!"
Flossie Wright was slowly tidying up her work, barely glancing sideways at Jocelyn Carrington’s expression. The corners of her mouth lifted in a faint curve, but she decided not to respond to her words.
If Flossie said anything more, Jocelyn was likely to wreck the whole kitchen.
Luckily, the dormitory was nearby and Jocelyn didn’t have to wait for long before a panting Yvonne Watson came with the cold medicine. As she was unsure of what was needed, she brought a small bag full of different options.
"Medicine."
Yvonne Watson’s face was red from the run. Noticing Jocelyn’s furious demeanor, she quickly stood still and hesitantly uttered a single word.
She had always been afraid of those aggressive females undergoing training. They were rude and violent, always shouting whenever they spoke, without a hint of femininity. Or to put it another way, rather than fearing them, she found them repulsive and didn’t want to get too close to such people.
"You can take a few items from this," Flossie said to Jocelyn Carrington. Her hands did not stop moving, making it appear as if Jocelyn had come voluntarily asking for the cold medicine.
Jocelyn Carrington felt utterly humiliated!
But she had come all this way. To leave over such a trivial matter would make her seem petty.
It was really so humiliating!
After randomly picking several medications for fever, Jocelyn was almost choking with anger. After glaring at Flossie, she stormed out, her temper boiling like a lit fuse.
That night, Nathan Foster, who didn’t receive forgiveness from the cooking class or Neal Thompson and was instead filled with rage, decided to vent his anger on his soldiers.
As the frogmen from both the male and female squad and all the soldiers under Glenn Hutchinson arrived, they saw the trainees almost out of breath from the drills. Hearing about those reckless new recruits causing trouble in the cooking class... they freeloaded, adding fuel to the fire.
The training field that night was unusually bustling. Many veteran soldiers used the excuse of training new recruits to engage in "combat competitions", and all the boisterous new recruits were beaten down, unable to even crawl back up.
And Nathan Foster, seething with anger, didn’t intervene. He let them bully his men and even hoped they would be harder on them because without a lesson, these new recruits wouldn’t know their place!
