This was highly likely to happen.
Especially since they did not trust Flossie Wright’s abilities, they would never let her cover them from behind.
Without even the most basic trust, how could they possibly agree to entrust their backs to her?
Of course, considering Flossie Wright’s previous behavior, they genuinely wanted to strangle her, so their current feelings were complex, extremely complex.
"Regarding this matter, I’ll self-reflect," she said.
After a pause, Edward Milton was brave enough to admit his mistake.
It was true that Flossie Wright had not discussed with them, and her behavior then had indeed been far from likable. But had he shown a little trust earlier, Flossie Wright wouldn’t have acted behind their backs.
She was a soldier with a fierce temper and rebellious nature.
Such a soldier, if one had never worked with her before, it was indeed difficult to trust her.
As soon as Edward Milton finished speaking, the entire channel fell into absolute silence and awkwardness, and even Flossie Wright did not continue the conversation.
"Captain, what should we do now?"
Unable to bear it any longer, the SWAT officer who had injured his shoulder called out to Edward Milton.
As a result, his voice was so loud that all those wearing headsets were jolted deaf.
"Damn, keep it down!"
"Don’t think we won’t hit you just because you’re injured!"
"Tsk, tsk, tsk, after taking that hit, the ears are no longer working..."
Soon, the atmosphere in the channel began to liven up, but the noisy voices did not suit their current situation at all.
At a command from Edward Milton, he stopped them.
"Flossie Wright, can you keep up with us?"
After quieting them down, Edward Milton immediately became serious and asked Flossie Wright through the channel.
Her assertive response indicated Flossie Wright was full of confidence.
"Are you sure?" Edward Milton asked again.
Flossie responded decisively.
"Alright," Edward Milton made a decision with a slight pause, then told the others, "Report the situation to Team B, the hostages are most likely with the people they are pursuing, and remind them that there might be reinforcements on their end. Additionally, the injured will stay here waiting for rescue, and those who are able to move will follow me to catch the group that just escaped."
The battle had just ceased when a new operation began again.
In the recent skirmish, two SWAT officers were injured, one in the shoulder and another in the thigh, neither of whom could continue the mission and had to stay behind for rescue.
As snipers, both Flossie Wright and Jessie Grain began to conceal themselves, following behind their steps.
Although they were down two men, their opponents had suffered greater losses, with an estimated three dead and one wounded. Plus, they had the assistance of a police dog on their side, giving them the advantage.
Five minutes later, they had taken care of the wounded, checked the remaining weapons and equipment, and then, taking the police dog, continued the pursuit.
The two injured were leaning against trees.
With nothing better to do, they exchanged idle chatter.
The center of their conversation, intentionally or not, was about Flossie Wright.
They had to admit; their feelings towards Flossie Wright were a bit complex.
"You think we acted okay, right? She just arrived and pointed a gun at the Captain, who would be nice to her after that? What she said about being a deserter, was simply too much. I really wanted to stamp a shoe print on her face. But now, why do I think she’s kind of badass?" mused the SWAT officer with the bullet in his shoulder, sighing deeply.
"Well," the officer with the injured thigh hesitated briefly before offering his thoughts, "I guess most masters are like her, weird and unpredictable in character. Who knows? As long as she doesn’t slow us down, that’s fine with me."
