"For example?"
Flossie Wright opened her eyes, casually accepting the conversation.
Calvin Ramos’ eyes darkened slightly, as he carefully said, "Against the Blue Army."
Unbeknownst to them, their team was being led by Flossie, even Glenn Hutchinson followed her actions without any objection.
Of course, he was not sure whether Glenn could guess Flossie’s thoughts, but what he could affirm was that he himself could not anticipate her thoughts when she had not taken any action. She never liked to discuss her plans with others in advance and often made risky moves. The others merely needed to follow her. Yet many times they were clueless about what they were supposed to do until halfway through or at the end—suddenly realizing—"So that’s what we’re doing."
And now, having arrived at a new location, normal people would discuss the next plan, but Flossie just walked away, leaving no room for discussion.
"Hmm." Faced with Calvin’s consideration, Flossie nodded lightly, but pointed to Glenn beside her, "For the next move, ask him."
Truth be told, while Calvin was contemplating, Flossie had no plan at all.
Based on their performance in this exercise, their team had far outstripped all the other teams; so, there was no doubt they’d be selected to stay.
Since the goal had been achieved, Flossie didn’t want to make efforts unnecessarily and intentioned to step aside.
As for what should they do next...
With Glenn here, they surely wouldn’t be sitting idle.
Calvin squinted slightly, obviously taken aback that Flossie would even follow someone else’s command.
At first, in the rookie company, he thought Flossie was competitive, and arrogant. Then, after grouping together, he saw more of her carefreeness, freedom and her not being restricted. Later during the two days of the exercise, he found Flossie rather autocratic. Now...
There was no denying that Flossie was indeed mysterious.
The harder someone is to predict, the more attention they draw.
Meanwhile, getting the first-hand news through the earpiece, Glenn Hutchinson, who seemed indifferent, suddenly turned his head towards them and said, "Want to try a sea battle?"
Flossie squinted her eyes; the brows that were raised slightly were filled with a mixture of audacity and confidence. "Of course."
She had participated in many wars, but... sea battles were limited to her understanding only.
As a gunner who had ingrained the factors of combat into her bones almost unconsciously, she disdained all easily-seized fights. However, she found challenging stuff interesting and was always willing to explore such.
As the evening approached, the night became increasingly hazy.
At night in the jungle, what was most troublesome were not boars or tigers, but mosquitoes that were often off-putting but could annoyingly torment people periodically.
Becca Reyes and Stuart Weston had been on the road all day. Traversing through the jungle was challenging, so they tried to follow the river after escaping from the Blue Army. According to their knowledge, following the river was the fastest way to reach the seashore.
However, the more they moved downstream, the more turbulent the river became, making it impossible for them to go into the water, so they could only walk along the riverbank.
With the sky gradually darkening and the journey ahead filled with unpredictable dangers, they needed to slow down their pace. The irritating mosquitoes were most abundant near the riverbank and stuck to the two of them no matter how fast they walked.
"These mosquitoes are driving me mad."
Listening to the buzzing in her ears, Becca Reyes sighed in relief, taking the chance to eat some biscuits to replenish protein when she found a halt.
However, in just this short break, countless mosquitoes swarmed over, targeting the skin she exposed, ruthlessly exploiting her as they savored their sumptuous dinner.
Returning with the water bottles filled, Stuart Weston heard Becca talking to herself and couldn’t help but laugh.
Naturally, he earned a roll of eyes from Becca.
"Let’s eat while we walk."
Handing over the water bottle to Becca, Stuart Weston was considerate for once.
With virtually no moonlight tonight, the sky was covered with gloomy clouds, and their flashlights were out of power, making the journey tonight very tough. However, compared to the various dangers on the way, it was even less worthwhile to stay here and feed the mosquitoes.
Becca thought the same. After storing the water bottle, she took the lead with the gun, showing the image of a masculine woman to the fullest extent.
Stuart Weston touched his nose in the back, finding Becca’s straightforward action quite problematic. He felt his masculinity severely wounded and caught up with Becca, insisting on taking the lead even without a word.
Becca gave a confused look.
But they hadn’t walked for long before a light appeared in the distance, immediately heightening their guard.
Both instinctively held their breath, taking cover in a nearby pile of miscellaneous woods, while simultaneously aiming their guns at the shadow holding a torch within the shortest possible time.
"Stop hiding, I know you’re here!"
Before they could recognize the person, a familiar and husky voice relieved them.
It was Nathan Foster.
"Over here."
Stuart Weston stood up, waving at the figure, signalling him to look in their direction.
The flashlight soon encompassed both Stuart Weston and Becca Reyes. Nathan, who had been looking for them all day, finally breathed a sigh of relief. While he cursed them as little brats in his mind, he couldn’t help but marvel at their presence.
Before setting off, Austin Shepherd had given him a guess—it might be Flossie and the others.
At that time, Nathan Foster didn’t pay any heed to it and, unexpectedly, it turned out to be them.
Nathan waved the flashlight, signaling the two to come over, and Austin Shepherd suddenly got through the line.
"Have you found them?"
Austin Shepherd, who had been keeping tabs on them, asked immediately.
"Yes, it’s Stuart and Becca."
"Oh, there’s something else," Austin Shepherd responded unsurprisingly. However, his next voice held a touch of peculiarity, "Tonight, there’s a sea battle in the maritime territory nearest to you."
"What’s up?" Nathan frowned, somewhat confused about what he meant.
"I just checked the bearings. If I’m not wrong, Flossie Wright and Calvin Ramos are participating in that sea battle."
