Without warning, the woman froze momentarily, as if a force had suddenly gripped her heart.
The next moment, her smile seemed to shine even brighter.
"If you weren’t an Eastlandian soldier, I’d almost want to take you home with me."
Her eyes revealed unhidden admiration as she smiled charmingly.
This man was far more formidable than she was. Just a few words from him could mesmerize anyone.
Faithful men always held a certain charm.
"If she didn’t let you go, right now you would have been interrogated by the soldiers of Eastlandia."
With an icy remark from Glenn Hutchinson, he paid her no more attention.
And he left.
The woman watched as his figure retreated.
Under the dim light, the man’s silhouette stood tall, a hazy glow enveloping him.
Weirdly cold with others, but before that woman, he was like the Ice Mountain melted, warm as spring.
Truly, a man worth envying.
The woman narrowed her eyes, the playful light in them intensifying. Her gaze lingered on the retreating figure, a mixture of greed and desire hidden within.
Just as she was coming back with late-night snacks, she ran into Gracia Hutchinson arriving at the hotel entrance.
From afar, Gracia started waving at Glenn, bustling towards him.
"Take this."
Without waiting for her to get too close, Glenn tossed the late-night snacks to her, stopping her in her tracks.
"Ah, thank you, brother!"
Upon recognizing what was being tossed her way, Gracia smiled so brightly her eyes almost disappeared.
Gracia resembled her mother, Kirana Williams, possessing the same gracefully curved eyebrows and melon-seed face, but her demeanor was far from similar. She perfectly inherited her uncle’s rebellious nature, causing stress at home since she was young. Several times, her father wanted to throw her out, but Kirana and Glenn always managed to persuade him otherwise.
At home, Gracia listened to no one, even rebelling against her grandfather. Only in front of Glenn, would she become obedient and docile, not daring to lose her temper at all.
For a long time, whenever there was an issue, the Hutchinson family would turn to Glenn first.
"Go on upstairs."
Glenn’s voice was indistinct, a hint of softness apparent in his eyes and brow.
"Did you come with that... umm, sister-in-law?" Gracia asked through a mouthful of food, her words barely intelligible.
Standing outside the elevator, Glenn paused ever so slightly, his gaze sweeping over her with a deeper meaning.
Gracia, always a strange one, instantly knew what he was wondering about. She quickly swallowed her food and explained, "Mom told me. She’s already approved of my sister-in-law."
And so, Glenn asked no more.
"We came together."
As the sound of his voice died down, the elevator dinged and slowly opened.
They both stepped inside.
In between wolfing down her food, Gracia suddenly called out again.
"Hmm?" he answered dully.
"Did sister-in-law agree to be with you yet?"
Glenn’s face turned slightly dark.
"Ouch, do you even know how to win over a woman’s heart?" Gracia looked at him with a mischievous grin.
"Wipe your face."
Disdainfully glancing at her messy face, Glenn tossed her a pack of tissues.
Gracia clumsily caught it, nearly dropping her half-eaten meal in the process.
"Comrade Glenn Hutchinson, changing the topic is a sign of guilt."
