Belinda is currently receiving individual treatment.
The injury isn’t particularly serious, according to Iris Dukes. Some stone fragments penetrated the flesh, requiring careful surgery to remove. The only concern is whether they reached the bone.
As soon as she reached the door, Rowdy Brightwill, who had been waiting outside, greeted Flossie Wright.
"How’s it going?"
Walking over, Flossie Wright calmly asked.
"I don’t know. I just got here; I haven’t heard anything." Rowdy Brightwill was somewhat frazzled.
He was here to help, running around all day, and had mentally prepared himself to encounter acquaintances, but when he really met someone he knew, he felt uncomfortable.
After speaking, Rowdy Brightwill seemed to think of something, his eyes turning toward Iris Dukes, "Dukes, you were with Belinda, right? Know the details?"
"Oh," Iris Dukes hesitated and repeated, "It’s really nothing much, just some stones in the flesh, undergoing surgery to remove them. She should be out of danger."
"Should be?" Rowdy Brightwill immediately grasped onto unsure words.
Iris Dukes’ eyes shifted instinctively, sending a look for help to Flossie Wright.
You shouldn’t make absolute claims in such matters, right?
At least, that’s what Iris Dukes thought.
Then, Flossie Wright, a bit helplessly, added on the side, "She won’t die."
"..." Rowdy Brightwill raised his eyes incredulously.
These two.....
He certainly hadn’t said he thought Belinda would die.....
"Oh, oh, by the way," while they were waiting, Iris Dukes seemed to recall something, suddenly clapping her hands and speaking to Flossie Wright in surprise, "Flossie, do you know who took down those terrorists setting landmines?"
"..." After a silent moment, Flossie Wright bluntly said, "I don’t know."
"Right, you wouldn’t know," Iris Dukes realized she had asked somewhat redundantly, scratched her head awkwardly, then explained, "Seems it was a local mercenary corps, with someone really handsome who’s apparently on good terms with Sister Belinda."
Flossie Wright didn’t speak immediately, but had clearly guessed the person’s identity.
After thinking for a while, Flossie Wright asked, "Where is he?"
"Solved those people and left," Iris Dukes naturally said.
"Hm." Flossie Wright nodded.
Rowdy Brightwill watched them, feeling their conversation lacked focus, especially since Flossie Wright seemed to know who the "really handsome" guy was.....
At this point, Ann Cavanaugh, who had been performing the surgery, emerged from inside.
Upon seeing them, Ann Cavanaugh stopped in her tracks.
"You’ve arrived." Removing her mask, Ann Cavanaugh glanced fleetingly at Flossie Wright, then met the puzzled gazes of Iris Dukes and Rowdy Brightwill, and gently smiled, explaining harmoniously, "She’s fine now. All the stones have been removed. With no infection, just a few days of rest should suffice."
"Thank you, doctor."
Iris Dukes put her hands together, bowing sincerely to Ann Cavanaugh.
Ann Cavanaugh blinked, speechless.
"Hey, don’t mind her," Rowdy Brightwill stepped forward, smiling as he asked, "Can we go in and see her?"
"Sure," Ann Cavanaugh nodded, then reminded them, "But keep the noise down. Others inside need rest too."
Rowdy Brightwill promptly nodded.
Immediately, Rowdy Brightwill and Iris Dukes exchanged a glance, as if agreeing on something, then tiptoed into the ward, making not a sound.
This again left Ann Cavanaugh speechless.
Luckily, she noticed Flossie Wright about to step through the door and quickly reacted.
"Captain Wright, may I speak with you?" She looked up at Flossie, her smile fading.
"Business or personal?"
Stopping at the door, Flossie Wright frowned slightly.
"Personal," Ann Cavanaugh hesitantly said, noticing Flossie Wright’s nearly indifferent eyes, she added, "It won’t take long, won’t delay you."
After a moment’s consideration, Flossie Wright agreed, saying directly, "Go ahead."
Ann Cavanaugh hesitated slightly, then glanced at the open door of the ward before looking at Flossie Wright, and walked a few steps down the corridor.
The area against the wall had no wards or surgery rooms, no one was passing by.
Flossie Wright followed her, stopping only when they reached the wall.
"I apologize; what happened between me and Captain Hutchinson might have inconvenienced you." Lightly biting her lip, Ann Cavanaugh lowered her voice a bit, speaking softly with some guilt.
"Hm," Flossie Wright questioned, puzzled, "What happened between you and him?"
Ann Cavanaugh paused.
With a slight sigh, Ann Cavanaugh continued, "You know, those hospital rumors. Rest assured, I don’t intend to interfere with your relationship. You don’t need to direct hostility at me."
Truth be told, Ann Cavanaugh had always disagreed with Flossie.
Partly because of the "love rivalry"; she pursued Glenn Hutchinson for so long, he never showed interest, yet everyone in Aaron Doom knew how much Glenn Hutchinson doted on Flossie Wright, which made Ann uncomfortable. Additionally, there’s her fundamental disapproval of Flossie’s demeanor and actions, her apparent hostility and disregard toward many things made normal communication nearly impossible. Perhaps due to limited interaction, Ann may be biased, but everything she saw and heard showed Flossie acted in a way Ann couldn’t agree with.
They were inherently different.
Ann Cavanaugh was amiable but not weak or inflexible. With Glenn Hutchinson and Flossie’s relationship established, she could only choose to let go after years of unreturned affection.
"I’ll be mindful," Flossie Wright laughed slightly, seemingly uninterested.
She had no intention of engaging with this lady.
A bit of annoyance at a "love rival" was natural, but mostly, she genuinely didn’t care about her and Glenn Hutchinson’s affair.
Give Glenn Hutchinson enough courage, he still wouldn’t dare flirt with Ann Cavanaugh, right?
Ann Cavanaugh frowned, awkwardly watching her.
"So, is there anything more?" Noticing her prolonged silence, Flossie Wright asked again.
"Not much, I just wanted to clarify," Ann Cavanaugh raised her eyes, her gaze straightforwardly on Flossie Wright, explaining one word at a time, "After this peacekeeping ends, I will request a transfer from the Military District Hospital. Though I don’t like you much, I still wish you both well."
