Before one knew it, a week of training had ended.
The training this week had barely changed, with only a few exercises gradually increasing in difficulty, such as shooting, hand-to-hand combat, and diving, all of which remained unchanged. So much so that many of the veteran soldiers, adept at handling various situations, began to complain and look down on the training in private.
Is this the extent of the selection training?
It’s practically like playing a game!
During this period of training, the strong began to get stronger, while the weak became even weaker, with an especially large gap growing between the two.
On the seventh day, in the evening.
Nathan Foster supervised their last five-kilometer run.
By the side of the training field.
Austin Shepherd, Nancy Phillips, Rowdy Brightwill, and Oscar Bluen gathered together.
"The warm-up time we gave them," Rowdy Brightwill complained as he touched his nose, "seems a bit too long."
With a light cough, Austin Shepherd shrugged helplessly, "A miscalculation."
The overall training plan was drafted by him, based on their previous selection experiences, and among them, only Drake Easton had experience as a selection instructor to offer practical advice.
In the past years, Bard Walker was solely responsible for the training plans, but this year, he had completely let go, leaving everything to be managed by them, who lacked experience.
The initial intention was to let the trainees adapt to the training and not to be too harsh at the beginning, but they forgot to give a firm warning.
Damn headache.
Nancy Phillips looked around at them, purposely avoiding Rowdy Brightwill’s direction, and turned to ask, "Have you all finalized the next set of plans?"
"Yeah, just finished sorting it out, and the captain has already reviewed it," Austin Shepherd nodded, "Drake’s gone to get the printed version."
They were responsible for various subjects and had determined their own training plans and schedules, which Austin Shepherd allowed a certain degree of autonomy over. His only responsibility was to arrange the various physical exercises and then integrate their training plans.
Oscar Bluen was rather silent, not joining in their discussion and just quietly listening.
It wasn’t long before Drake Easton came over with the printed training schedule, handing out two copies to each person, with four extra copies to spare.
"Time is almost up," said Austin Shepherd after glancing at his watch, "If no one has anything else, go and rest."
"Alright." Oscar Bluen nodded.

Without further conversation, he left.
Nancy Phillips had wanted to discuss further, but after hesitating and sweeping a glance toward Rowdy Brightwill, and coincidentally catching his gaze, she immediately looked away and simply said, "I’ll be going too."
After speaking, she didn’t stay for a moment longer, following Oscar Bluen out.
"What’s the deal with you and her..." Austin Shepherd turned to Rowdy Brightwill with a smile and a raised eyebrow.
Confused, Rowdy Brightwill inquired, "Nancy Phillips?"
"Who else?" Austin Shepherd replied with an amused question.
After pondering and pressing his lips together for a moment, Rowdy Brightwill looked up slightly, "Nothing."
Ever since Flossie Wright’s shooting competition, Nancy Phillips hadn’t spoken to him again; even when they had meetings to discuss matters, Nancy Phillips wouldn’t say more than necessary to him.
Rowdy Brightwill also had his pride and he didn’t try to apologize and smooth things over.
He had eyes, and he saw clearly, how could Nancy Phillips not be targeting Flossie Wright?
"Forget it," Austin Shepherd shook his head, advising, "You’d better handle it properly."
Rowdy Brightwill nodded noncommittally.
Drake Easton watched him for a while, soon, starting from the selection training, he shifted the topic.
As the intensity of training increased with veterans and newcomers together, so did their conflicts. The recruits were dissatisfied with the veterans’ superior performance, and the veterans looked down on the newbies falling behind. Therefore, altercations could easily spark, and although the four captains were trying their best to maintain order, they could not avoid disputes between the old and the new soldiers.
