Even during their first phase of training, they had learned how to conceal themselves, never revealing such obvious flaws as these.
After a moment, Flossie Wright glanced at the equipment discarded at her feet.
A slight smile tugged at her lips as she crouched down and picked up anything useful.
Particularly the two packets of compressed biscuits.
The recent field survival exercises were far from the relative ease of the selection training. There were no shortcuts, the terrain was treacherous, time was tight, and there wasn’t even spare moment to forage for food. One of the most vexing problems while on the road was how to find food and fill their bellies in the shortest possible time.
Now, having "killed" a Sniper team and acquired two packets of compressed biscuits was more important than other things.
Picking up the items, Flossie Wright didn’t linger. She looked up to identify her bearings by the stars in the night sky and then set off into the jungle that had no Road at all.
This was the first day.
Twelve hours into the assessment, Flossie Wright discovered that the compasses they had been distributed were subject to electromagnetic interference, completely useless for pointing out the correct direction.
Clearly, Franklin Cody was intent on not making it easy for them, using high-tech means to disrupt their navigation.
Flossie Wright could only be thankful that her knowledge of the jungle was far from meager.
The next day, 9 a.m.
Ella Pemberton had finished eating and took advantage of a ride to reach the intended destination of this assessment.
It was a small place within the jungle, just by the side of a highway. Actually, it was quite easy to find if one came directly out of the jungle.
Less than five minutes after getting off, Ella Pemberton noticed a few forces personnel in camouflage.
All of them were sitting around a campfire, eating compressed biscuits with bottled water.
There was Franklin Cody, a helper, and—
A Sniper team.
"Sacrificed so soon?"
Approaching leisurely, Ella Pemberton expressed surprise and smiled as she inquired of the two people.
"Don’t even mention it..." The observer took a sip of water, his face showing a hint of amazement, "Captain Pemberton, how exactly did you train those Snipers of yours? We didn’t even notice, and she had already taken us out."
"Oh?" With a look of surprise, Ella Pemberton raised her eyebrows skeptically and asked, "Taken out by whom?"
These two were hand-picked by her, so she was well aware of their strength.
Although they hadn’t been through Sniper training, they were sharpshooters valued for their exceptional skills within their own Forces.
Taken out without noticing?
That seemed a bit exaggerated.
"Who, uh," the Sniper thought for a moment, "someone named... something Yè."
"Flossie Wright?" Ella Pemberton inquired.
"Yes, that’s her!"
The Sniper nodded affirmatively.
That was the name!
After returning, they had described the female soldier from the previous night, and then they heard Franklin Cody mention that name.
"No wonder."
Ella Pemberton responded with a sudden realization.
It really was no wonder.
Out of the three people, Jessie Grain and Nancy Phillips had strengths that she could clearly gauge, but as for Flossie Wright, aside from physical training, she couldn’t guess how deep she was in other subjects.
Psychological quality wasn’t even worth mentioning. Even the Psychological Group’s tests were passed with a hundred percent certainty, and her mental state was extremely healthy, posing no danger to anyone.
But how strong she truly was, no one could tell.
As for marksmanship...
In theory, Jessie Grain and Nancy Phillips were both excellent marksmen, and Jessie Grain’s performance had always been stable, showing little variance in scores under any training conditions.
