The result, those hundreds of military songs inside...
Just listening to them gave me a headache.
Rubbing her temple, Flossie Wright turned off her MP3 player and continued with her notes.
Unlike Belinda Nichols, who read a variety of military books, Flossie focused primarily on sniping and wilderness survival, which encompassed a breadth of knowledge she couldn’t possibly master in a short time.
During a recent outing, she had casually picked up two books on jungle plants, but with so many technical terms, she occasionally needed to take notes.
After about twenty minutes of writing, the dormitory door was pushed open again.
With her sensitive hearing, Flossie instinctively turned her head and looked towards the entrance.
It was Belinda.
Her expression was as cold as frost, seemingly unchanged from the usual, but Flossie’s intuition told her something was amiss.
"What’s up?" Flossie asked in a concerned tone, frowning.
Belinda entered, closed the door behind her, and walked over, stopping beside Flossie.
"Want to spar?"
Without any small talk, Belinda asked directly.
"..." Flossie paused for a moment, then looked up at her and nodded, "Okay."
No matter the reason, as long as the outcome involved a fight, Flossie was always ready to oblige.
In their training, it was soon noticed that Belinda, having just returned, was inexplicably entangled in a fight with Flossie, and it seemed to be a serious bout.
The two fought with equal prowess.
"Did they have a falling out?"
"Impossible, right...?"
"Maybe they’re just messing around."
"Damn, who messes around with such ferocity? They’re both fighting like they don’t want the other to live."
"I guess only a vendetta of patricide could lead to such a fight..."
"Tut tut tut, don’t curse them!"
Gradually, more and more frogmen gathered around, whispering speculations and wildly guessing the reasons for their quarrel.
It wasn’t until the end of their first round, when the two momentarily stopped to rest, and swept them with a fierce look, that they began to panic and, after hesitating for a moment, scattered and disappeared.
If you keep watching, you’ll lose half your life!
After an hour or so, Flossie Wright and Belinda finally stopped, both lying exhausted on the ground.
Lying on her back, Flossie looked up at the sky, a grey expanse filling her vision; she took a deep breath, feeling the humidity in the air.
It looked like it could rain at any moment.
"Shall we go?"
After a while, Flossie sat up from the ground, casting her eyes toward Belinda at her side.
Belinda spoke indifferently.
Flossie stood up first and then reached out her hand to Belinda, pulling her to her feet.
Without a word, Belinda followed Flossie back to the dormitory.
Flossie could understand Belinda’s current mood.
In fact, Nancy Phillips and Jessie Grain had both been through it.
Bodies along the river, families’ wails of grief; any normal person encountering this for the first time couldn’t remain indifferent.
And, perceiving the subtle emotions in Belinda, Flossie even felt a sense of relief in her heart.
At the very least, Belinda was normal.
Flossie always knew why Glenn Hutchinson and Ella Pemberton were worried about her psychological test; her excessive calm could easily be mistaken for cold-blooded cruelty.
Of course, such an attitude in a sniper is a weapon for sure victory.
But a soldier who doesn’t regard human life is like a hidden bomb; the greater the ability, the greater the potential danger.
