Becca Reyes sat down slowly against a tree in the distance, pressing against her chest, as she looked at the fallen corpses.
She was too exhausted from running and needed some time to recover.
Both her body and mind were in desperate need of adjustment.
The empty gun lay beside her. She took deep breaths, grabbed the rifle she had managed to keep hold of during the frenzied escape, and then checked the ammunition in the magazine to make sure she wouldn’t need to reload at a crucial moment.
However, drained and having relaxed unexpectedly after a prolonged period of tension, she failed to notice the steps approaching her.
"Don’t, move!"
The gun pressed against her temple was accompanied by a foreign accent, stuttering but stern and threatening.
Becca Reyes immediately stopped checking her rifle.
Quickly, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a shadow approach—an unfamiliar pirate who snatched away her rifle and earpiece, eying her predatorily.
There was no verbal communication, but Becca Reyes could still clearly see hatred filling the pirate’s eyes.
A deep-seated vendetta.

Becca Reyes’s heart jolted.
Indeed, to those from Eastlandia, these pirates were enemies, invaders of Eastlandia’s territory, to be executed if necessary. But to the pirates, this was their livelihood, and they were living, breathing people, with anyone lost being a brother who had shared in their hardships.
In that moment, Becca Reyes’s firm belief seemed slightly shaken.
Even the fear of being held at gunpoint was suppressed behind.
The pirate holding the gun against her commanded angrily.
Understanding his broken Eastlandian, Becca Reyes pulled her thoughts back, trying to avoid confrontation, and then carefully stood up from the ground.
As soon as she straightened up, the pirate who had taken her earpiece and rifle grabbed her hands harshly and tied them tightly behind her back.
The rope was tightened with such ferocity that it seemed to dig into her flesh, causing Becca Reyes to frown from the pain.
Pressing her lips together, Becca Reyes knew they were keeping her alive for a reason, and having no means to escape, she did not resist, allowing them to handle her as they pleased.
After nearly ten minutes of tracking, all fleeing pirates except one had been captured alive and brought back.
They regrouped at the initial ambush point.
"Is everyone accounted for?!" Ella Pemberton asked the team members as they returned one by one after waiting for a while.
"Becca Reyes is missing."
The speaker was a returning veteran soldier from her team, his expression heavy and obviously concerned.
Ella Pemberton blinked in surprise, walked over to him, and asked with a frown, "What happened?!"
"Our team was tracking two people; she probably chased after the other one," the veteran soldier explained.
The situation was urgent at the time, with Becca Reyes in the lead chasing what seemed to be a specific target. When the two pirates split to escape, they focused on subduing the initial pirate target they were after.
By the time they realized something was wrong, Becca Reyes had completely vanished.
"Have you found her?" Ella Pemberton asked, furrowing her brow.
"Yeah," the veteran soldier replied as he tossed the captured pirate aside and looked at Ella Pemberton, "We haven’t found her yet."
Her expression growing somber, Ella Pemberton glanced around the veteran soldier and then asked, "What about Sandy Cruz?"
"He’s gone to find her."
The veteran soldier answered honestly.
