Old Mr. Wright suffered from high blood pressure and could not be overly agitated.
This was something Flossie Wright didn’t know.
Yet, returning for only half an hour before sending Old Mr. Wright to the hospital with her "brave deeds" directly led to her being completely ignored by the whole family.
When Wright Family members took Old Mr. Wright to the hospital together, Regan Wright was all over the place, leaving Flossie Wright out in the cold.
After he finished busying himself and Old Mr. Wright was resuscitated, Flossie was still waiting outside.
Upon seeing her as he walked out, Regan clenched his fists full of raging fury, but in the end, he just pointed at her and didn’t resort to violence.
Taking a deep breath, Regan commanded, "Don’t hang around your grandfather these next few days to avoid making him angry!"
Assuming that Old Mr. Wright would be alright, Flossie nodded her head.
"Alright, get lost!"
Seeing that she complied, Regan waved her away, his heart filled with frustration.
The family was already chaotic enough, in the midst of preparing for Merry Otiz’s funeral. The fact that Flossie had come back after so long just to enrage Old Mr. Wright made it absolutely impossible for Regan not to be furious.
Not having properly lectured Flossie was simply due to lack of spare time.
No sooner had his words fallen than Flossie turned around and walked away.
In that instant, it was as if a stifled anger built up in his heart, making him want to pull Flossie back and give her a severe beating.
Not at all aware of her mistake!
If the resuscitation had been a tad slower, Old Mr. Wright might have been at risk of losing his life.
Yet, from beginning to end, he hadn’t heard her utter a single apology!
Regan’s anger made his aura unstable, his hands shaking slightly.
Down the corridor, Flossie put her hands into her pockets, taking slow steps until she gradually disappeared near the stairwell.
On her way out of the hospital, Flossie ran into Helen Wright and Grady Wright, who had just arrived.
"Big sister!"
From a distance, she heard Grady’s shout.
Flossie paused, looking up in their direction.
She caught sight of Grady, waving her way, and Helen, who tightly held him back, preventing him from coming over.
Helen acted as if she hadn’t seen Flossie at all, treating her like thin air, forcibly pulling Grady into the hospital building without even a cursory greeting.
"Sis, what are you doing?"
"Don’t get close to her."
"She’s the one who angered Grandpa into the hospital."
Not far behind them, she could hear their conversation, but gradually, the voices and footsteps grew distant until she could no longer hear them clearly.
As Flossie stepped out of the hospital entrance, she lifted her gaze and saw the remnants of the sunset in the sky, a last trace of brilliant red contrasting against the azured backdrop, conspicuously striking.
After a moment, Flossie withdrew her gaze.
Raising her hand, she adjusted her military cap and headed toward Main Street.
She didn’t rush back to the Wright Family home.
First, she didn’t need to appear at Merry’s funeral for the time being. Second, after the afternoon’s upheaval, it was likely she would struggle to find something to eat if she went back.
She had not had much all day besides grabbing two Steamed Buns in the cooking class, and even after arriving at the Wright Family home, she hadn’t rested.
Up until now, she hadn’t had anything else to eat.
Her military attire was indeed conspicuous.
Walking around the night market caused quite a few stares.
Without regard for appearances, Flossie stood in front of the Barbecue Stall, ordering a heap of items.
The boss, intimidated by her commanding aura, hurriedly nodded in agreement.
"No chili peppers."
