Flossie Wright and Belinda Nichols are in room 401, Devina Millet and Iris Dukes in room 402, Jessie Grain and Chloe Bell in 403, and as the assignments wrapped up, the final room 404 was left for Jo Quinn.
It was already late when they finished unpacking, hitting the clock at ten.
They intended to go to sleep just then, but no sooner had they closed the door than Willie Ash knocked with a group of people.
"Lost track of time, it’s a bit late, huh," Willie smiled at them and motioned for someone to hand over two pieces of luggage, saying, "These are your things, check them yourself."
Flossie Wright and Belinda Nichols exchanged a glance.
Then they took the luggage.
"I live right below you; if you need any help in the future, feel free to..."
Before Willie could finish, Flossie slams the door shut.
Willie was left standing there, dumbfounded.
Inside the dormitory.
"Should we unpack?" Belinda Nichols asked Flossie, holding up her luggage.
After dropping the luggage, Flossie shrugged her shoulders.
The journey had been bumpy all day, and she was in no mood to spend extra time unpacking.
Belinda nodded.
And with a "snap," turned off the light.
Climbed into bed, and went to sleep.
With the instructors preoccupied with Cassie Ferguson’s situation, the newly recognized recruits received no instructions and simply joined the veteran soldiers for training.
Willie Ash told them to brace themselves mentally.
Many dismissed this, thinking no training could be worse than the selection process. Yet, as soon as these recruits hit the training ground, they were nearly broken.
While running through various exercises, Flossie roughly calculated that the volume of this morning’s training was likely double what they used to have.
As expected, by the end of the morning workout, more than half of the recruits were flat on the ground.
"You don’t need to train during the day; wait for the Captain to return,"
Willie Ash told Flossie and the others as he passed by, then left with the veteran soldiers.
That was the word, though.
Still, Flossie and the others’ training hardly eased up.
Had they not seen the veteran soldiers train, they might have opted to rest well, but now, stimulated by what they saw, they chose to intensively train themselves even harder than during the selection process.
Flossie was among them.
Day after day, veteran soldiers conducted normal training while the new recruits pushed themselves relentlessly.
This vigorous routine persisted until Glenn Hutchinson returned.
At one in the afternoon.
Flossie awoke from her nap, intending to head to the training ground, when she heard a knock at the door.
Knock, knock, knock.
Three raps.
"The door’s open."
Flossie stated calmly, adjusting her hat.
As soon as her words fell, the door swung open.

Flossie turned her head.
Standing in the doorway was Glenn Hutchinson, absent these past few days.
He wore standard army attire in olive green, the uniform accentuating his sturdy frame, with his angular face bordered by the brim of his hat, beneath which a gentle warmth softened his features. His deep, dark eyes cast an almost palpable pressure across the room.
Slight surprise showed in her face.
She promptly adjusted her hat.
"Is the matter resolved?"
She raised an eyebrow at him and asked.
Glenn replied, crossing into the room.
Flossie lifted her eyelids slightly, "How’s the situation?"
"Who do you mean?"
