No sooner had she spoken, Perry Reed had already pulled her into his arms.
It seemed as if he was exerting all his strength, a strength so immense it was near suffocating. Flossie Wright’s eyebrows furrowed as she tried to break free, but his grip was a vise-like, unshakeable no matter how hard she pushed.
"You’re very rational, Flossie, but," Perry Reed spoke softly in her ear, his voice heavy, tinged with dangerous elements, "reason has no control over emotions. The only reason you can remain rational is due to your profound emotions."
"So what?" Flossie Wright gave up struggling.
Moving closer to her ear, the corner of his lips rose, his voice low and seductive: "I will never give up on you."
Having lost and regained her, he could never let go.
Erina Taylor is a contradiction.
Indeed, she wouldn’t let her rationality be swayed by emotions, but no one could surpass her loyalty and regard for feelings.
She was not someone unaffected by persuasion.
Because she was never cold-blooded.
"Alright, go ahead and try,"
After mulling it over, Flossie Wright finally spoke with an air of detachment.
For some reason, it reminded her of the night when Glenn Hutchinson lost his composure.
An image that, though she tried hard to forget, were etched in her mind, impossible to shake off.
This was utterly baffling.
"Well, it’s rare that you’d give in."
Running his fingers through her soft hair, Perry Reed toyed with a strand. Yet there was no hint of joy in his brows.
"Would it matter if I didn’t?"
"It won’t."
No room for denial.
As night fell, the temperature dropped significantly.

Having come home with his wife, Bard Walker, after much thought, decided at her persuasion, to call Glenn Hutchinson.
At this time of day, Glenn Hutchinson was likely not busy.
"What is it?"
The voice over the phone was brief and to-the-point, even the tone was decisive and straightforward.
"Well," Bard Walker was quite embarrassed, but at his wife’s signal began hesitantly, "how are things between you and Flossie Wright?"
Glenn Hutchinson seemed inattentive, the sound of turning pages faintly audible in the background.
"Just asking whether you two confirmed your relationship!"
After a pause, Glenn Hutchinson replied, "No."
"Damn it..." Bard Walker was a blunt man, becoming impatient. He blurted out, "What are you doing now?"
"Writing an annual report."
"Oh," Bard Walker nodded thoughtfully and then asked again, "So, is it true that you guys are recruiting female soldiers this year?"
"Not decided yet."
Bard Walker was trying to dig up something, but was interrupted by his wife who suddenly stood in front of him.
After a moment of thought, Bard Walker realized what he wanted to say.
"So, I bumped into Flossie Wright when I went shopping with your sister in law today. She was dining with a man, who seemed to be someone of importance, not from the Forces." After a pause, Bard Walker continued, "I think they are quite close."
"Oh." Glenn Hutchinson responded indifferently, "Anything else?"
"No, nothing else." Bard Walker found himself lost for words.
"Then I’m hanging up."
As soon as the words fell, he heard the click of the call being disconnected on the other end.
Bard Walker stared at his phone, in total disbelief.
He hadn’t heard about any argument between Flossie Wright and Glenn Hutchinson, and from what he usually saw, it seemed they were on the edge of something...so why all of sudden...
Had they become so indifferent?
