"I’ll be the bait later."
She said it lightly, her expression natural, and no sign of seriousness or caution could be found.
It seemed that for Flossie Wright, this was just a whimsical decision, which did not require much contemplation.
And, it was not like she was negotiating with Glenn Hutchinson now, it was just a casual notification.
Turning to look at the cool and composed Flossie, the eyebrow creases slightly on Glenn’s face, his low voice containing a hint of roughness, "It’s none of your business."
He had never intended for her to be involved in this matter, she was just a new recruit on leave, and this had nothing to do with her. If they hadn’t been targeted, he wouldn’t have bothered.
Moreover, being bait is like feeding someone to the tiger, it’s fraught with danger. If mishandled, the consequences could be more than just losing one’s life.
He believes that when Flossie says this, she has confidence, and he also believes that Flossie definitely has some abilities, but if it’s unnecessary for her to act, then this point is moot.
"I’m just giving you a heads up."
Flossie replied indifferently, totally undeterred by his words.
Glenn’s gaze hardened, his substantial gaze falling on her, his eyes slightly flickering and his voice steady, "I’m not just talking."
She lazily raised her eyes, Flossie was not willing to argue with him. She turned to open the door, but the man in front suddenly approached her. As she turned, his hand was already on the door, blocking her path.
"Flossie Wright!"
The sudden approach, stern words mixed with a little anger and dissatisfaction.
Flossie was practically against the door. As she tilted her head slightly up, she met Glenn’s deep eyes, something seemed to stir in the bottomless depths of his eyes, causing her heart to skip a beat, but it subsided quickly.
"I said, no going."
The serious and forceful voice, with an inflection that left no room for negotiation.
With the cold door pressing against her back and Glenn almost close enough to touch in front of her, she felt a wave of pressure and warning. Flossie subconsciously furrowed her brows, her eyes growing colder.
"I said," She reached up to wrap her hand around his neck, Flossie narrowing her eyes to examine the handsome face in front of her, as if shrouded in a layer of ominous black aura, inexplicably alarming. Yet she seemed oblivious to the implicit danger, simply giving his collar a casual pat, "Captain Hutchinson, I am not your soldier. Coercive orders are useless."
Her implication was that he had no control over her.
From a work perspective, they could hardly be considered in the same branch of the military. Glenn Hutchinson’s higher rank was one thing, but the Forces’ rules were strict. He could enforce rules on Flossie through many channels, but he could not directly control her. From a personal perspective, she and Glenn Hutchinson were at most friends, with no deeper relationship, which didn’t warrant his interference.
Whether or not she chose to take risks was her business. Glenn Hutchinson could dissuade her, but he could not force her.
Thus, Glenn Hutchinson’s complexion darkened instantly, his rare anger ignited by Flossie’s dismissive words.
However, before his anger could erupt, Flossie raised her eyebrows at him, looking exceptionally relaxed. Seemingly unintentionally, she withdrew her hand.
"Want to play rock-paper-scissors?"
The unexpected question directly extinguished the anger brewing in Glenn Hutchinson’s eyes.
