A smirk appeared at the corner of her mouth. The woman at the door was in a tough spot. She hesitated for a moment, then finally, she could only pat her daughter’s head and gently instruct her to behave, before bidding her farewell and leaving with a throttled sense of frustration.
However, even after giving up Glenn Hutchinson and leaving, things did not go as smoothly as she had imagined.
Glancing at the retreating figure, Glenn Hutchinson released Flossie Wright, then calmly instructed his son, "Take your sister to grandma’s next door."
"Ok!" He nodded without hesitation. Little Hutchinson shook his head, and as though he’d remembered something, blinked his big, shiny eyes. He lifted the thermos in his hand and hesitantly asked, "And this?"
The soup that the aunt upstairs brewed was always delicious. Because the aunt came over often, Little Hutchinson had tasted it a few times, so now he was somewhat reluctant to part with the thermos.
It really was delicious...
Glenn Hutchinson’s gaze slightly deepened.
Then, Little Hutchinson, who had just been hesitating, immediately straightened up, severed his reluctance quite decisively, and spoke crisply, "I want to give it to the grandma next door to drink."
His expression returning to normal, Glenn Hutchinson casually gave an affirming sound, then immediately passed the mess onto Little Hutchinson.
Of course, for Glenn Hutchinson, this wasn’t really a mess - and it’s something Little Hutchinson could handle well.
Once Flossie Wright, who had been used, stood in place, she glanced at Glenn Hutchinson who was going to fetch bowls and chopsticks to eat, and again at Little Hutchinson who managed to coax his sister out the door with just a few words. After a moment, the corner of her mouth twitched unexpectedly.
This father and son were just too strange.
In less than three minutes, Little Hutchinson completed his mission and returned. He even took care to close the door when he came back. Upon seeing the lavish spread of dishes on the table, he didn’t immediately rush over. Instead, he went to the kitchen to wash his hands obediently. He didn’t ask anyone for help with anything he could do himself. It seemed he and Glenn Hutchinson had come to some sort of unspoken agreement; even when he was being clingy, he never refused to let go.
Compared to many normal children, he didn’t behave like a child his age.
"Sister, is Daddy’s cooking delicious?"
After cosyly sitting down next to Flossie Wright, Little Hutchinson had barely picked up his chopsticks when he turned his head to look at Flossie, watching her with high hopes, as though getting Flossie’s praise was a very important matter.
Supporting her chin with one hand, Flossie observed the dishes spread across the table, obliviously moving her fingers. The two chopsticks in her hand seemed capable of performing tricks, so much so that Little Hutchinson’s eyes nearly popped out at the sight.
Having watched all this between the two, a trace of helplessness surfaced on Glenn Hutchinson’s face, but he made no move to intervene with Flossie’s "showoff" act.
In their house, the rule was to eat in silence and sleep without speaking, let alone create a variety show at the dining table.
If it came to Flossie, Glenn Hutchinson always considered it a given and hardly ever interfered with her little habits.
After a full round of inspection, Flossie decided that she had tasted all the dishes and didn’t find anything to nitpick at. She fairly nodded her head, thus acknowledging Glenn Hutchinson’s culinary skills.
Little Hutchinson immediately beamed with joy. After sincerely nodding in agreement, he picked up his chopsticks to start eating.
During the actual mealtime, the table was very quiet, no one took the initiative to speak, largely due to being preoccupied with eating. Thus, the meal was relatively harmonious.
